Inappropriate names !!!

Hi everyone ~:wave:

In light of recent threads re appropriate language can I also raise the issue of inappropriate names. As has been mentioned many youngsters view this site and some of the names are highly inappropriate.

Would it be possible for us all to have names that do not refer to swear words or particular body parts (I think you know what I mean)?

I don't want to start a riot but I think we need to be sensible and think of others :2thumbsup:

I assume you're referring to one that appeared recently which I found in rather poor taste.

Thanks for the response. I'd seen 68 views of the thread with no reply so assumed it only bothered me ~:confused: .

If it was 4 letters related to a female body part then yes I did find it offensive and I'm male, but it did remind me of other similar references in names.

I think it is just so unnecessary and downright immature ~:rolleyes:

Maybe you're right, but let's leave the 'innocent youngster' argument out of this. The bearers of said names are probably youngsters themselves who don't realise their awesome avatars merely give them away as puny highschool scheisters in sweaty t-shirts. Their names are not offensive to me, they're in bad taste and too much of it might make these forums look like so many others that most of us wouldn't bother visiting. On the other hand I hate playing cops and snitches. Maybe a polite suggestion on the part of the moderators could iron out the worst creases and we could leave it at that, topic sealed, move on to greener pastures, that sort of thing.

Objections noted. I'm working on it.

It's a sad thing, but what do you expect when we live in a society where our youth consider it a complement if someone calls them pimp? That's the one that bugs me the most.

Doesn't this thread really belong in the Watchtower?

the Entrance Hall mods are good at catching those sorts of names.

You mean the C.L.I.T. Commander? Guys, that's from "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back".

C.L.I.T. is supposed to be the name of a left-wing terrorist organization and stand for something having to do with animal testing or liberation or whatever... but... well maybe you guys are right. It was a crude gag. A FUNNY gag, but a crude one.

Still, that's where the name came from. "I am the CLIT Commander!! I rule the CLIT!!"

We, the siblings of the People's Front of Judea would like it to go on record that we would support members (surely a word ripe for double entendres) of either gender of the .Org in their quest to be associated with the works of the Python team & now that the move from Holy Grail to Life of Brian is underway (MTW - RTW) it is deemed appropriate at this juncture to offer our lives in a fruitless guesture of solidarity with Biggus & other characters.

Unless of course it would be inconvenient as regards televisular schedules, romantic liasons or everyone's new SP campaigns.
