This reminds me of Shogun
From the GameSpy review:
"During huge massive battles with multiple armies, it's not uncommon for your reinforcements to be controlled by the AI as they storm in from another part of the map. That's very cool. What's not cool is helplessly watching one of your generals, an important named character, rush his cavalry alone into a waiting phalanx of spearmen. Suicide! Given how important these characters are to the big picture, couldn't you at least be able to tell the AI to protect them?"
Sounds a lot like the suicidal Daimyos doesnt it?
Oh well, CA fixed it in Shogun eventually so there is hope ;-)

Rofl.. that's fast! Sorry, I shouldn't laugh.. but.. do you have a screenie of it? ~D
Re: This reminds me of Shogun
No screenie sorry lol, it's ok though was just the prologue campaign which you can't even save your game in. Have to get used to the new strengths and weakness of generals :)
I rushed him into the town square and didnt notice 30 archers around the corner, they shot him down lol...street fighting is pretty nice and new :)

"You can work around the AI problems as you play."
This was also stated in the review so i dont think its that a big of a problem in the game.
Ofcourse from a general u would expect him not to rush a wall of spears with his cavalry but hey sometimes in war people do stupid things and i think it wassent that much different back then.
Re: This reminds me of Shogun
And i am sure the AI behaviour for your other army can be modified with a patch or so.The naval fleet bug included or others that arent mentioned yet.

Hehe nice Thoros, I can already imagine it. Julius "We are vict-" *splat* *farmers cheer and laugh* "NOW try to conquer Europe!"
Somehow this town square thingy also seems ripe for a monthy python or something.
"We got the square!!"
>"Wait, this is not a square.."
"It isn't? Well who cares.. we got the town anyway.. Woohoo!"
>"No we don't.. we need the town square to have the town.. we now have a non-town square"
"Isn't it a town non-square?"
>Are you telling me you don't even know a square from a town?"
