Beer! How much do you...
How much beer do you drink? ~
When do you drink it? ~
What kind? ~
**************************************************
I drink one every day(!) with dinner. Half the time I'll have a second a few hours later. So I average one and half a day.
Sundays I visit my buddy's woodwork shop and start earlier, around 4. Maybe three beers on Sunday.
Almost any dark micro bewery beer.
Guinness rules!

Re: Beer! How much do you...
My favorite brand would be Hertog-Jan, but I also like a Kwel-Chouve from time to time. When it is really hot nothing beats a Hoegaarden white with a little piece of lemon. There also is a little belgium beershop in my street, and every beer from Belgium is a masterpiece ~;)
I like beer.
-
Re: Beer! How much do you...
I don't drink too much beer, I generally only drink when I go out with mates, I don't feel the need to drink it everyday. And when I do drink, I am such a lightweight it can be embaressing ~;)

Re: Beer! How much do you...
I'm allergic to the hops. I tend to throw up after (about half a pint)...
-
Re: Beer! How much do you...
48-72 oz (1.5 - 2+ Litres) per day. More during football. Less at parties. None if driving. None before 1600 (except football, then 1200), or after 2100.
I Like Guinness, but it's pricey here, so I save that for special. Regular, everyday stuff: Budweiser, Miller, etc (3.2% alcohol).

Re: Beer! How much do you...
Only drink Vodka and I binge drink at the weekends and on Saturday there was only a third of the bottle left, but I'm sure someone else was drinking it...................there must have been

Re: Beer! How much do you...
a) 3 to 5 bottles a week (less durung winter, more during summer); bottles are either 0.5 or 0.33
b) After work when sitting at the PC, during summer when enjoying the evening on the balcony, for certain meals (barbecue or pizza)
c) I like dark beers like Köstritzer or Krusovice, otherwise some German standard beers like KöPi, Jever or Bitburger (and Kirin for "Japanese evenings")
For diner or a nice evening with friends I usually prefer a nice bottle of wine.
-
Re: Beer! How much do you...
I usually have 1-3 beers (0.5 l) a few evenings a week. I have more during parties and such; I never drink when driving that's why I never drive to a party - taxi/bus then.
What beer? I like local polish beer a lot: ZYWIEC, ZUBR and others. Some imported ones are really good too:
Czech - Budweiser, Staropranen (sp?)
German - Bitburger (sp?)
Netherlands - Amsterdam - awesome and extra strong (10% or something).
Becks (English?)
All times fav - EFES (Turkish) - nothing can beat the taste, it is the best beer I have ever enjoyed. If you ever come accross it, do not hesitate ~ .

Re: Beer! How much do you...
A month ago I lived in Denmark. These were happy times.
I'd sit at my computer :computer: and my girlfriend :kiss2: would enter the room to bring me beer. ~
I really liked that. :smitten:
She'd come regularly to check if I was out of beer and bring me a new one as needed. :medievalcheers:
Sometimes she'd even tell me to hurry up with my current beer because she had another waiting for me. :barrel: :whip: :iloveyou:
In short, life was good. :jumping:
However, things have changed.
I have now moved to Iceland. ~:snowman:
My computer is now in a container at the docks ~:mecry:
and relatively cheap beer costs more than $2! :jawdrop: :stop: :hanged:
I'm drinking cocoa milk these days.
:help:

Re: Beer! How much do you...
Iceland? No kidding?
Can you post any details or pictures about Iceland? To us flatlanders, Iceland is quite the adventurous place.
What's the beer like there? What about the women?

Re: Beer! How much do you...
I've only been on holiday to Iceland, a couple of times. Its cool but I'm not sure I'd want to live there. Its the sort of place where they name a brand of cola after a bloodthirsty killer and have whole sheeps heads in the fridge at supermarkets. And as for hakarl...
That was some girlfriend hope she isn't stuck in a container at the docks too?
Anyway on the beer topic, I find a couple of beers (ie pints) after work on a thursday or friday, and a few in the evening at the weekends, goes down very well indeed. I drink a bitter called Spitfire from Shepherd Neame, which is an excellent Kentish beer and completely recommended. Shepherd Neame generally is a very fine brewery.

First things first, the women: A totally random and representative sample of Icelandic women
The second most important thing, the beer: Expensive as hell. Can't be bought in grocery stores. Only sold in government run stores (because beer is such a major threat to public safety!). However, the selection there is large and most major brands are available. The are decent Icelandic brands too. Amazingly, one can also buy beer and bars and restaurants. Impressive, isn't it?
All alcohol was banned in the early 20th century. Fortunately, Spain threatened sanctions to get its wine to the market so the prohibition was lifted for all alcohol...... except beer. For most of the 20th century you could buy booze with 75% alcohol per volume, but not beer (because beer was the innocent looking gateway for youngsters to enter the doomed world of wine, opium and crack cocaine). That wasn't fixed until 1986 or 1987 on a day that became known ad B-day, the invasion of the beer. Thirsty Icelandic Eskimoes + lots of beery firewater + not enough public lavatories for the drastically increased demand = The Great Big Pissing Disaster. Things have calmed down now.
Lastly, the less important stuff.
Population: 293,966 (July 2004 est.) .... and no the number is not missing a digit. Area: 103,000 sq km. = 2.85 persons pr. sq. km.
You'll look like fool in a Ferrari. To be somebody you need a car like these or that one.

Re: Beer! How much do you...
Its true, Europian Beers (except Heineken, eugh!! cat pee!) do tend to be a lot better than English Larger, (Carling Extra cold is ok) But Beers Like Becks, Amstel and Stella have more of a flavour to them.

English lager is nothing special, but bitter is delicious, just in case anyone from the USA misunderstood the King to be suggesting English beer was no good. What next, eh, he'll be dissing tea if we don't watch him.
Germany, Belgium, but most of all the Czech republic, make the best lager in the world IMHO. Czech lager is first class.

Re: Beer! How much do you...
I love Belgian beer, and have a connection through my brother-in-law whose company is headquartered there, mail me a case or two a month. My favorites:
Leffe (Blonde or dark)
Hoegaarden - superb choice Fragony, especially with seafood
Het Kapittel
Tripel Krullekop
Liefmann's Goudenband
Mal Heur
Delerium Tremens
I generally drink one during dinner, and one for dessert. When entertaining guests no more than 3-4, and since my recent illness not even that. When boating/fishing we'll have a couple of American brews (3.2 beer) Miller, Budweiser, Genesee, etc... and my 14 yr. old nephew is assigned as my coxwain (boat operator). When I retire I'd like to run away to Belgium and become a Trappist Monk. ~;) ~

Re: Beer! How much do you...
I drink on fridays saturdays and sundays. As these are the only days I can get away with being slightly tipsy (Although like most of my family it takes a good 5-10 pints to get me rat assed.) I will also drink with my mates. But if it's a school night I keep it down to one or two beers. Usualy on fridays I'll drink a couple of cans/bottles/pints.
I will drink bitter when I'm out but for relaxing in front of the T.V or in front of the computer, as I run down peasants with my knights, I'll drink a nice European Lager. I can get them pretty damn cheap as well as I'm near the channel tunnel I can pop over fill the boot and zip back over and get drinking.

Re: Beer! How much do you...

Re: Beer! How much do you...
How much beer do you drink? ~
Roughly a dozen/week
When do you drink it? ~
Usually on Friday and Saturday
What kind? ~
In no particular order:
1) Red Stripe (Because it comes in stubby bottles; you Canadians will know what I'm talking about)
2) Stella Artois (Because it is crisp and delicious)
3) A Marca Bavaria (Because it is good on a hot day and the commercials feature a bunch of hot Brazilian women with hard nipples in bikinis)
4) Miller (because I like watery American beer when I'm eating spicy food)
5) Beacon India Pale Ale (because it is delicious micro-brewed beer and the Lighthouse Brewery is less than 6 blocks from my house)
