Re: Ewwwww major bridge bug
I noticed the thing with people falling off the bridge in the demo (very weak if you ask me. Hello, I can control a unit, not each person in it! Why would they run off the bridge?) But this is new. So your whole unit died at once for no reason, am I reading that right? Did they rout and run off the bridge or just drop dead on the spot?
Re: Ewwwww major bridge bug
i've had a sorta similar experience fighting gauls on a bridge, 500 vs 1000 they had about 800 of their troops (the rest were dead)all on the bridge when i caused their first line to route. I sent in a bunch of equites to hopefully cause the rest of the 700 or so to follow suite. It worked! not only that but as the equites charged onto the bridge the opposing army basically evaporated. It seemed like they all routed and then just fell into the river. Hard to tell what happened as it was all so quick but basically i went from fighting 800 germans to havening completely destroyed the entire force in about 15 secs. The equites got 600 kills and that was all from that one charge onto the bridge as there were no routing enemies left for them to chase after that.
Re: Ewwwww major bridge bug
Like I said, the unit reached the other side. The Gauls charged. I lost 10 men, with 150 left, they routed for some odd reason, then INSTANTLY all but 2 just dropped dead. They werent charged into by the gauls. They just dropped dead in a perfect square where they were.

Brian :- "Brothers! We should be struggling together!"
Judeans fighting other Judeans :- "We are!"
I've had people wade into the water and drown, had cavalry suddenly vanish on a bridge, then appear five feet to the left, meaning most of the unit was in the water, and I've had routing enemies flee into the water, but never an entire unit suicide whilst on a bridge, and the kills go to someone else.
I'm thinking that as it just measures kills in the stats at the end of a battle, meaning that if you throw your pila into the back of your guys heads it counts as a kill by you, that the 700 King Azzole killed were mostly his own.
Re: Ewwwww major bridge bug
NO no you read wrong, they WERE NOT attributed to the enemy. They were suicide or FF kills, which is impossible cause 150 died at the SAME TIME. Instantly.
Re: Ewwwww major bridge bug
Luci, “I got 22 kills today!”
Pacitus, “Yeah, but 15 of those were OUR guys!”
Luci, “Hey, a kill is a kill. Now, I get to wear a bronze chevron.”
I swear, I am going to build peasant units and mix them with my missile guys and hunt small bandit armies. Gets my General experience and kills for my missile units to build up experience. So slimy.
Couple of things I noticed/guess about bridge battles:
1) If you route on or onto a bridge, large numbers (up to 100%) will die instantly. Usually occurs if your router gets near the sides of the bridge. You may need to be in contact with an enemy/persuer.
2) If you target melee units to attack an enemy in the middle of a bridge, they will charge but any part of your unit that overlaps the mouth of the bridge will take a swim instead and die. Which will cause the rest of the unit to route – see 1 above.
If you target the ground or a unit on the Opposite side of the river, your unit will have no trouble crossing over. I could not target a move to the middle of the bridge. I had to target the far side and tell the unit to halt on the bridge. Did this once with a small force waiting for reinforcements while a horde of Gaul attacked only to proceed to do 2 above. The Gaul were nicely centered approaching the bridge with 1/3rd making it and 2/3rds turning into fish food. Unit after Unit. Have not done it since because this bug is really bad.
Re: Ewwwww major bridge bug
The Pharao is not amused.
If I want to kill my own units, I drive through them with my chariots.
There's no need for them to commit bridge-suicide.
I hope this issue will be dealt with in the 1.02 Patch.

Re: Ewwwww major bridge bug
In addition to the difficulties of the lemming soldiers, I have also noticed sometimes the AI gets 'stuck' on the bridge. Several times now I have seen the tail-end of the attacking enemy army (3-4 full units) all pile up on their end of the bridge and stop there while the rest of it moves forward. Even after all other units are dead, those units sit there and don't move. If I charge into them, it takes a good 10-15 seconds for them to react and fight back. Until that time, they sit still and take casualties without noticing my men. After they 'wake up' the whole formation shifts as if it had just come unstuck and is now able to move freely.
