Definitely a good book, but don't you think that good books never make good films - discuss?
Have not read the book but I will check it out if I see it at the library.
Similar to movies do not make good games :)
The Lovely Bones is a great book. It's a quick read (for anyone who is interested). It'll be interesting to see just how it translates into film.
As the Duke noted: great books don't always translate into great movies. In fact, that's the case so often that it has become a kind of cinematic rule. There are some rare exceptions where the movie is better than the original source material. The Exorcist, for example, was much better as a movie than the novel on with it was based.
Yeah, we could discuss this. I'm game.

Money is the root of all evil. To remain pure, make your parents pay.
Who Goes There was a lot better as John Carpenter's The Thing. I will soon think of others, but at the moment I'm drawing a strange blank.

Odd, isn't it, how often horror movies surpass the books on which they're based? Recently, I watched Secret Window with Johnny Depp and then went back and read the novella by Stephen King. I thought the movie was miles better than the novella, particularly the ending.
