Altered the controls so i can use W.A.S.D for camera...

I wasn't that satisfied with the default keyconfig, during a fight you need to press keys all over the keyboard almost.

So, i started off by writing down all commands in excel. Then i sorted the keycommands in alphabetic order and checked which was used and not.

I have now altered so i have it like this:
W: Cam forward
S: Cam backward
A: Cam strafe left
D: Cam strafe right
Q: Cam rotate left
E: Cam rotate right
ALT W: Cam rotate down
ALT X: Cam rotate up
ALT E: Increase formation witdh
ALT Q: Decrease formation witdh
Z: Rotate unit anticlockwise
X: Rotate unit clockwise


The commands that had to be altered (from original) was theese:
W: Was withdraw. Withdraw is now: CTRL+W
S: Was Skirmish. Skirmish is now: ALT+S
A: Was Fire at will. Fire at will is now: ALT+A
D: Was Guard. Guard is now: ALT+D
Z: Was Advanced advisory advice: AAA is now: CTRL+Z
..................

This is much better in my view. Now i can reach thoose controlgroup buttons, i can reach Shift, i can use Caps Lock to toggle camera speed and more.

I'll list all commands i found which are not used for anything in the game. Might come in handy if someone plans on doing their own custom keyconfig.

CTRL+ everything but the numbers (1--0) and the letters ABCHILMT.
NOTE: Theese are thoose that are taken.

SHIFT+ everything but the numbers 1 to 8 and TAB.

ALT+ everything except M and S.

One thing i'm wondering about. Does anyone know how the "Camera bookmark" keys work?
There are four camera bookmark keys, i've tried them but nothing happens. Any ideas?

I remember setting my W A S & D as camera for MTW - it was perfect. Compared with reaching over to the right hand side of the keyboard for the normal keys it was much simpler.

Regarding the bookmark keys, if it's what I think you're talking about do the following:

Shift + F9/F10/F11 - set camera location 1/2/3

F9/F10/F11 - move to camera location 1/2/3

Some places I've heard that F12 works as a fourth, but I can't be sure. Try it out :)

Ah, of course. That's so obvious now that you say it.
I got the idea that it was the camera setting you would bookmark. Like for example: Zoom out, turn to west, rotate down 30degrees. Then press SHIFT F9.

F9 would then get you back to that view. It didn't work though, and since i never really moved the camera LOCATION during my tests, i never got any result.

I've never actually used it myself (haven't been able to play enough), it's just something that stood out once when I read/heard it - but does it only record the location, not the direction? That's a shame, as I tend to be quite picky about the elevation and orientation of my camera!

Nice work.

I just use the default FPS 'WASD' keys and find them fine. It's strange because for MTW I just used the mouse and teh Shift key to get around the battlefield - but since the mouse ability to move about the map was changed I had to use this - but I think I like it more.
