Anyone else notice that Armenia's East Heavy infantry get both the phalanx formation AND a "mount_effect" boost for dealing with cav? They are the only unit like this. All other phalanx units lack mount effects in the unit file. The effect is hardcoded for phalanx formation and appears to be stronger for long pikes vs spears. This units mount entry looks like an oversight, but who knows? Haven't played with this unit before.
Also, just found that the Sarmatian Mercenary Cavalry are missing their mount effects line (unlike all other mounted units in the game.)
There are lots of little housekeeping fixes needed to unit stats.
Still can't figure out why cav are so cheap to maintain...perhaps that is why Macedon goes nuts with light cav production. Think I'll add the following per turn to upkeep on standard size cav units:
light horse 60
med horse 80
heavy horse 100
this is a known bug with many spear units. triiari have it etc.
I don't know if it is a bug or not. We just don't know what is really usefull in the unit file, and what imapct what.

Nothing conclusive.
In my opinion, the only way to sort that out is to mod another version of Armenian unit without the mount effect and look if it changes its behaviour at all. Both with phalanx mode on, and off.

Only thing i can add is that from experience the eastern heavy inf is very good against cav
Huh? It's not a bug in non-phalanx spear units. The difference is that phalanx spear units already seem to have some sort of bonus...so adding mount effect is a "double dip". Read my post again.Quote:
