Problem with new mountains
I expanded the map and discovered strange problem. When I add any mountains in expanded area they look weird on battle field.

I tried different ways to solve this problem - darkened or brightened these areas in map_heights and map_roughness tgas, increased or decreased max_land_height in descr_terrain.txt. All was in vain. The only way I could affect on this glitch is to remove mountainous ground types from map_ground_types.tga. With "low mountains" ground type these mountains look almost ok in battle; without any mountains at all they look perfect. But it's not the solvation of problem, because without mountainous ground types you have just plain area on strategy map.
Did anybody experienced such problem? Any recommendations to fix it?
Re: Problem with new mountains
Back to page 1!
Seems like I'm the only one lucky who have these glitches.
Re: Problem with new mountains
Btw, Duke John, do you have such problems in Japan?
Re: Problem with new mountains
I have never come across something like that. Did you delete the HGT file? Can you upload your map_heights.tga? Did you make sudden height changes, ie from pitch black to pure white? It should be gradually.
Re: Problem with new mountains
I personally think that some of the mountains there look quite cool. Others are just wrong.
Re: Problem with new mountains
Yes, I deleted the hgt.
There is my map_heights.tga:

It's not look very gradually now, but I tried different combinations of gradient - it didn't help. I even copied areas from old map_heights and map_ground_types tgas into new part of map - the same result. Just don't understand anything.
Duke John, can you show your map_heights and map_ground types, and some in-battle screens?
Re: Problem with new mountains
Have you tried to use blur tool ? I gues yes isn't it ? on hard setting and small size should moderate all the heights....Anyway why you do not use the map editor that has been developet at the total center???
