Map Modding CTD
Hi guys,
I've been able to succesfully add new provinces/cities/ports following the tutorials on this site (thanks guys!!) but there are times that the game crashes to desktop and I don't know what I did wrong. I used the - show err extension and when I quit the game a popup box appears that tells me whats wrong. I'm trying to change the names of cities in the map to make them 18th Century but when I change for instance Mediolanium to Milano I get either a ctd or, more usually, the game doesn't load but returns to the Provincial Campaign selection screen. Strangely enough I've been able to easily add Minorca, Malta and more provinces to Sardinia and Corsica without much ado.
Thanks!

Re: Map Modding CTD
How do you change it? Just changing the value of Mediolanium entry in regions and cities names list? Or adding new entry of Milano in this list? If you add new entry you must also add it into descr_regions_and_settlement_name_lookup.txt, then change "Mediolanium" to "Milano" in descr_strat.txt and descr_regions.txt.

Re: Map Modding CTD
When the game goes back to campaign selection, quit the game - there will be always an error box at that point. The errors don't show only on critical errors that cause instant CTDs. Make sure you change all the files that have settlement names, including the one in data/txt/ folder

Re: Map Modding CTD
Yes changed the three files in the campaign folder relating to the map names plus the regions and settlements file in the text folder. I figured out what to do when it returns to the campaign selection screen :) But how do you know what error you committed when it CTDs?
Thanks!

Re: Map Modding CTD
You don't :)
But I've noticed that when the game CTDs, it's rather the problem with the map pictures, and when it goes back to campaign screen it's rather the problem with txt files.
But not always.
