Map editing isnt my speciality, but I believe every province is identified by a RGB coded colour, which should mean a theoretical limit (based entirely on that) of 16777216 or so regions. Beyond that, I have no idea, I would think its likely there are other elements that limit this number.
And yet, we are still stuck with only 300 different units....
in MTW we had a color for a province and a color for province border. So every province cost 2 colors. Each sea region cost 1. And there was 1 color reserved.
In MTW the game used a 256 color mode. so there was a limit of about 127 provinces (no water). yet i remember the game used to crash if there was 108 + provinces
In RTW it looks like there are no province border colors, all the water masses are one color.
So, if RTW still uses 256 color mode, that would mean that we can have upto 250 provinces. (few colors being reserved for city markers and ports)
am i correct in this thinkin?
I'm trying to make a whole new map that would have 200 to 250 provinces. And i want to be sure i could do this before i start major work.
I believe a developer said it was 200. I think you should believe him :shifty:
I would like the search to come back to, but in its previous stats it overloaded the server... not good.
