Hi all. I hope some one can help me with this problem.
Does anyone know in which province Mt. Hei the warrior monk castle/temple was situated. I seem to think it was in Kawachi, but am not 100% sure.
Any help would be great!

Mt. Hiei was located in one of two places... I forget which is which and need to look it up if noone else can get it for you...
It is either north/northeast of Kyoto in Yamashiro. Or south/southeast of Kyoto in the Yamashiro/Omi area (yamashiro I believe).
Either way it wasn't Kawachi... you may be thinking Osaka/Ishiyama Honganji which were along the coast.
Those were more of the "Kawachi" (lots of differing spellings)area.

Indeed Zen I was thinking of Osaka castle.
I hope James can find it. Because Hei was where the monks came from right? the Sohei. Therefore they are key to this campaign.

The Enryaku-ji temple complex on Mt Hiei is a few miles to the NE of Kyoto, right on the border between Yamashiro and Omi. Other major warrior monk centres include the Onjo-ji (or Miidera) temple just to the east of Kyoto in Omi and the Nara temple complex of Todai-ji and Kofuku-ji about 20 miles south of Kyoto in Yamato province.
There were other, lesser warrior monk centres (Kumano, Kurama-dera, Horyu-ji etc)but they all tended to be concentrated in the 'home provinces' near the old capital.
