RTW custom battles

Customs battles i really love this. massive battles they last for ages [as long as i turn everything down except unit size i keep to max.] I have had the game months but have only just discovered this gem. Anyone wanting to be attacked with full 20 stack armies this is the bee,s knees for it and epic battles as well. If in the campaign the player controls reinforcements instead of the AI this will solve a ton of problems. As in custom battles i only play with one full 20 unit stack and put the rest to AI enemy. This makes for some massive cracking battles[ and with a couple of speed mods make for some really long battles] anyone else love this part of the game. If the campaign can be made to play like this and you able to control more than a couple of stack armies. bin the AI off controling your reserve units. Then were on to a winner there. i mean i was a moaning git till i discovered this. As for performance. turn everything down to minimum. [I dont think you notice it anyway and it isstill better graphics than MTW] and its superb ~:) ~:)

well i tried to conquer rome with three stacks of mine against three of theirs. i turned all of the display options off but even then had a very disturbing framerate and at the half of the battle i gave up, it was annoying. i have no problems with some of the display options turned on when playing with one full stack against another but it seems as if my computer has very big problems when trying to do it with six of them :grin2:

like i said i turn everything down except unit size and the battles are totaly exceptable with a bit of slow down i have just tried a custom battle granted all unit sizes are not the same max i think is 242 and the number of individual soldiers was 18,760 or there abouts. say 18,700 and the game was playable. granted like you say have all the details up high and it turns into a uncontrolable mess with the mouse unusable. but turn it rigfht down and it does work. ~:) ~:)

I had a LAN with a few mates playing RTW - and finally with this Total war I can play humans vs AI.

For so long guys of differing xp playing tw series have said - no way Im playing against you guys cause that was the only option - so we just didnt play :furious3: -

BUT for the FIRST time yesterday

Me and a mate holding a village as 3 VH AI came charging in at us - breaking through all over the perimeter, zooming around with the camera putting men into action plugging the breaches - HUGE fun

or me and a mate at either side of a huge city racing up the walls to see who would be first to capture the city.

We also had a 3v3 myself and two newbie mates against a VH AI and it was AUSOME ~:cheers:

looking across the valley as some 8000 odd men came together in a huge jagged line of battle :charge:

watching cavalry flank the huge masses of footmen

thankyou CA for that gaming moment ~:grouphug:
