A slice of Tarte Tatin (a.k.a. 'upside down apple cake') with vanilla ice cream, lightly whipped cream and a bit of rasped ginger... Oh lala!...

Alternatively, pears stewed in a liberal amount of fine Red or Ruby Port (Warre's Warrior or above) with a bouquet of split vanilla beans, lemon peel and cinnamon stick, some brown sugar, lemon juice and a dollop of ginger paste. Served warm with kiwi or pistaccio flavoured cream and sliced almonds, accompanied by a very fruity dessert wine and intentionally ambiguous conversation.

Of course if time and experience allow it, you can try your hand at the glorious Bombe au Chocolat. I tried it once. What can I say, it turned out to be a bomb alright...

Mine would be almost anything, as my friends and belly would testify, but I have a special crush for Ayva Tatlısı ("Quince Desert") and Güllâç (no translation possible), two specialities of Istanbul cuisine. Mmm! *rushes to grub some cookies*

Mine has a story behind it.
Once upon a time while stationed at Fort Lewis Washington - my mother in law made the mistake of calling our house. My wife was not home at the time so I answered the phone. She futher compounded her mistake of calling when my wife wasn't home - and asked if we would come to her house for Christmas near Kansas City, Kansas - over 20 hours of driving in a car or flying - which I can not stand to fly that is. So being the smart ass that I am, I told her that we would only come if she made me a Mince Meat Pie. So as we drove to Kansas for the Family gathering on Chiristmas - my mother in law spent three days making a Mince Meat Pie according to her old family recipe - So when I got there - My wife who only asked her mother to make a Choc. Pie and was refused because of the effort of making a mince meat pie was sorely pissed at me for abusing her mother with my joke. Regardless my favorite pie is now Mince Meat Pie - because my wife made me eat the horrid thing. I still joke about that pie - and my wife threatens to make me eat another one almost every time.
Favourite desert: Sahara!!!
Favourite pastry: Anything that is a pastry pie e.g apple pie, blueberry pie, meat pie......
Difficult question - there are so many nice desserts.
