Provincal Campaign Modding Tip
Have not seen this detail mentioned, but it does work so thought I would post it:
If using the "provincal campaign" approach for your mod, copy all of the files in \data\world\maps\base to your campaign folder. Your mod campaign will now use the local versions in the campaign folder rather than the original "base" files. For example, if you mod the local "descr_regions.txt" and delete the map.rwm file for the changes to take effect then you will find the regenerated map.rwm in your provincal campaign folder after the next game start. This allows you to change the map features for your mod without having these changed map features apply to the original imperial campaign. Unfortunately, this tactic only seems to apply to the map-related files.

Step one:- Making your Campaign folder.
Make a new folder in \data\world\maps\campaign\ called my_campaign and copy the entire contents of the Imperial campaign into it. Also copy the contents of \data\world\maps\base\ into it.
Now go to \data\text\ and copy the file imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt and rename it my_ campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt Note: This file goes in data\text folder, NOT the campaign folder
Now when you run Rome, you should see the option to play a Provincial Campaign in the Single Player menu. Your campaign should appear and it should be a playable copy of the Imperial Campaign.
