Creating factions that appear later?

I'm totally new to modding, so please bear with me if this is too obvious a question. From the forum topics and guides I've read so far, I have a reasonably good picture of how the basic campaign files work, how factions are created, and so forth. But one thing still eludes me completely: how do you create a faction that appears later, after the game's starting date, like the Mongols, the Burgundians or the Swiss in the original campaigns? Is that possible at all? If so, how do you specify when and where those factions appear, which files must I modify?

Any help on this here, or any guides that you know of, would be appreciared. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the org VR. I'm afraid you cannot make a faction appear at a certain time like say the burgundians or swiss. Sorry mate.

You could replace the swiss or burgundians with a said faction but they would still appear in burgundy or switzerland. The burgundians though rarely show up anyway. I haven't tried the replacing technique but i have heard it has worked for a few people i think.

I see. So I assume the Mongols, Swiss and Burgundians appearing in the original campaign is hard-coded?
