Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
I know I said I would post pics of some infantry this weekend but I have been so busy that I have not had time to do them :embarassed:
As a sort of compromise I will show you what I have done so far. Basically I have got the armor and helmet sorted out for the basic infantry. These can now be resused for many of the models. I will do some nice textures for them at some point.

Here are some skirmisher kern, some kern with the big spear like weapon and some gallowglass. As you can see from the pictures I am not very good at texturing. I have also done the model for the Spanish Rodelero which is also the model for the Imperial Rondartschier. I have done two versions of this though one with the baggy pants that the spanish had and one with a tunic as seen in a picture Cegorach sent me. I have not done textures for these apart from the armor though.

Can you post an image of the rodeleros?
IMO the kerns look pretty good. ~;)

Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
I think the kern's faces look o.k. but I just couldn't texture the waistcoat thing so it turned out as some wierd flat brown thing ~;)
Here is a render of the rodelero. As I said I have only textured the armor - I tried to do the baggy pants which you can just see about 3 pixels worth of at the bottom but they didn't work. Also the arms I put as chainmail for the screenshot but when I have finished the texture they will be armor as well and I have some nice textures for armor for the arms so that is fine. Bare in mind that this is a render so the armor is looking extra nice, in game it will look either way to bright or slightly faded.

Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
Ok, As soon as Im finished with Kotor 2, I'll have a look at the textures, I might be able to give you a hand there.

Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
Here are some... Well I can't remember what they are - I think they are the english border reivers - Cegorach just sent me a load of pics and some names so I kinda just guessed which were which ~D

I just need a texture for some big gauntlets to go on their arms, at the moment the ones I did aren't very good.
-
Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
I'm pretty much sure they aren't Reivers but Archeros, Spanish Royal bodyguards. Their coats (or cloaks, shirts, what really?) should be more loose on the back and not tightly sticking to armor, which also look kinda funny on their chests, only that here its probably the matter of texturing. But anyway its all good job your doing, just need to work more on details here and there. ~

Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
Ok I will try to make some changes. It's pretty hard to do because I know practically nothing about this period in history. I tried to make it not stick to the armor but if you shade just under the cloak then it mirrors it on the other side and you have shading on both sides which looks really odd.

Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
Gauntlets, gauntlets, gauntlets...
Yes, I have some you can have if you want.
They are fairly simple, and dont extend up to the elbow, but they dont burn your eyes out either ~;)
I do also have some killer greaves...
As for the spanish horseman, the problem with the texture is it looks really waxy, what you need to do is darken the black triangle in the center of his coat, the highlight on that really stands out, and I think is what is causeing the problem.

Hmm.. yeah they do look like archeros to me. Anyway, they wore a cuirass and on top of it a brown cloak (exactly as in the pic I sent cegorach). It was BROWN for the archeros and bright gold and red uniforms for the foot guards.

Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
They were meant to be Spanish Archero elite cavalry and this is the picture I was going from
http://64.4.54.250/cgi-bin/getmsg/ar...662c1703280486
Is this the right picture and if not what unit have I just made?
EDIT: Oh and I would like the gauntlet texture if you have it, I can always extend it up to the elbow

You cant link pictures to hotmail accounts because every user has a different one. upload it to imageshack or any other host and then you can link it to the thread. Alternatively send me the image by email. And I'll tell you if its an archero or not. ~;)

Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
Yup, thats the one I sent and labelled ~;) . Still the bright yellow on your skin is too bright IMO. The boots should also be a bit darker.
And I realized what looked so wrong about the image: the horse. You havent modified the horse yet, and thats why the guy looked so inconsistent. ~;)
BTW, those guys' secondary weapon is a sword similar to a rapiere, but a little longer and much thicker and heavier.
-
Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
OK I will null the texture a bit and darken it. The gloss things seem to brighten everything up anyway. And no I haven't modelled any horses yet.
-
Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
here
You can find some more images of the archero:
Im posting a detailed description on the "units" thread.

Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
Only don't forget about that white collar.

Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
thnx for the pics and no I won't forget the collar ~;)

Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
Replying to the post of kerns;
I'm slightly confused; were the gallowglass among the infantry? Because, they wore chain, and iron helmets. And were heavy infantrymen (and also had chain leggings by this point much of the time). That would be accompanied by a cloak, and a two-handed sparth axe. The kerns I think look decent, though the padded coat would be longer sleeved and would cover all of their torso above the waist. The gallowglass would look pretty much nothing at all like kerns, they were quasi-nobility, and probably wouldn't look too dissimilar to heavy infantry in other parts of Europe.

Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
thnx for the info. Oh I just realised I didn't post any gallowglass, oops. Those first ones were english light cavalry. I thought gallowglass had swords. :dizzy2:
-
Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
A bad misconception but very common. The gallowglass used axes. They were large axeheads on a six-foot pole (a sparth axe). Some gallowglass used two-handed swords, but that was a minority, I don't why people depict them that way so often, I blame CA and their asinine depicition in Medieval.
-
Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
Thnx for the info. Screenshots of them coming soon.
-
Re: Screenshots for P&M TW2
Also, the proper name should be more like Galloglaidh; in any event, the plural of Gallowglass is Gallowglass. Gallowglasses is a modernized way of pluralizing it. Galloglaidh is one of the many names they were called; Gallowglass is just anglicized version of the name.
Additionally, they're mercenaries. They weren't raised, they were hired, and present in most of the British isles.
