"Easy way to defeat an atacking sieging AI" or "more bitching about how bad the AI is
Ok... although the topic, I don't wanna be a bitching troll about this but still... it's so bad I gotta get it out of my system and hopefully someone will find a solution - even if it won't be pachable anymore.
So, the thing is this:

Got it?
No?
I'll explain then.
Me, peace loving Carthage was defending what happened to be a Roman city I got from these very nice Julii persons who gave it to be - I swear! And was defending them from these Brutii mean persons. So, they siege the place for a couple years, build a lot of ladders, towers and a couple of rams and decide it's time to atack.
Me, felling light infantry and phanlax aren't the best to defend walls, form up my defencein the central square. The Brutii is then absolutly free to take whatever walls towers and such they might desire.
First mistake - they insist on raming the gates and get the oil, when there was NO defense of the walls whatsoever.
Second, and worse... they take a couple of towers (good move) but not all in their path, and start very SLOWLY marching to the square. One Triarii units happens, by chance, to be the first to get 1/2 way and meets some elefants and cavalry - destroyed easily with no looses. I look at the meter and +50% of the enemy are dead already so... they start retreating (orderly and slowly), when they were already out of the walls range - more loosing of men.
If this wasn't bad enough, about 4 units of infantry (including a comanding commander) get stuck runing from one side to the other in front of a tower they won't even bother to take. I have the timer off, and that's going no-where so I finaly get some cavalry, go there and kill them.
So, end result, with virtualy no fighting at all... a 906 to 5 victory :dizzy2:
I'm sory to say, but this is just beyond glich or bug - this is a very stupid atacking AI we've got here on RTW, and something must be done about it.
Another thing is... if I deployed 1020 man and ended up with 1016, how come they killed 5?

You healed one man.
That is amazing, If the AI is that dum, then maby they deserved it. ~D

We junior members can't edit stuff, and yeah, these Romans are pretty stupid.
You must've healed one man. I once mod (cheat) the game once, adding the battle surgery bonus to my generals, which resulted in my casualties recovered in half every battle or so.
If I were you I would be pleased. Take this opportunity and BURN THE ROMANS!
Be wary, though, if you're playing VH campaign, the AI got free stacks every turn.. out of thin air.

Yep, it's the AI. Only thing I can recommend is to meet them in a field battle and avoid this whole sort of unpleasantness altogether.

I can't believe you can play with those gawdy green arrows.

Yuck. The first thing that struck me about that picture wasn't the amount of kills or anything, but hose horrible bright green arrows. Turn them off, please, you're giving me a migrane.

Re: "Easy way to defeat an atacking sieging AI" or "more bitching about how bad the AI is
There is definately a weakness in the AI when assaulting a city. One of the most obvious broken features is that the AI's units carrying ladders are able to set the ladders up but the AI never quite seems to send reinforcements up the ladders. Usually the reinforcements do a dance in front of the city walls while getting shot up.
Based on some posts, some problems are being addressed in the patch, namely the idiotic AI dance in front of the city walls. I am holding out hope that the patch will yet salvage this game. There are a lot of great features but the game overall is the weakest of the series.

Don't bother me at all honestly, didn't even know you could switch them off, but I like to know where my boys are.

The green arrows are helpful for figuring out where your war dogs are or figuring out what's going on in a big confused meleƩ, but they're not great to look at.

You mean the exact same banner every single other unit in your army but the generals themselves have ?
The banner that will appear in precisely the very same numbers as you have units minus 1 ; the banner that will be indistinguishable from those of every other non command unit you have on the feild ?
Is that the banner you're refering to by any chance ?

If you select the unit the banner shows that you have selected it.

True, but when two or more units are confused, the green arrows are the only quick way to see unit distribution - the "glow" is too faint.

green arrows are very useful, imagine 5 horse cavalary were all stack toghether and you want to send 2 units from them to flank the enemy from rear. you might choose the one on the front or back and might messed up your strategy > < , i am very happy that the green arrows are around ~;) .

So this thread is all about green arrows now? What about making them red...
