Hiding in tall grass/scrub?
Is this new to the patch? I ask this because I never had seen this before. Last night I had a battle as the Gauls, and my skirmishers were hiding in the tall grass. In a later battle, the AI Roman Velites did the same. Perhaps I had never fought on maps with tall grass before. Does anyone know if this was just added in the patch?
Re: Hiding in tall grass/scrub?
No this is not new. It's been in the game since day one.

Yeah but it hasn't been working until now... ~;)
I have never seen velites and other troops that could "hide in long grass" do so before this patch.

Hiding in grass, yahooo. Up the rebels! :duel:
Re: Hiding in tall grass/scrub?
I always wondered how long the grass had to be for the soldiers to hide in the grass. No wonder it seemed that i could never find long enough grass to hide my guys in. Cool.

Ok that's what I was thinking. I knew many unit types had this ability, but I wasn't sure whether it was in game or not before the patch, since I hadn't seen it.
Re: Hiding in tall grass/scrub?
I've seen it this morning, Velites would prone/crouch and hide.
However, Velites would be the worst ambush unit though ~D . There must be some better units out there to do the dirty and demanding deed ~:)
Re: Hiding in tall grass/scrub?
yes that was the first thing i noticed when i played it
i have to admit that i do have to get used to the skins after playing RTR for susch a long time
Re: Hiding in tall grass/scrub?
And can't forget about those hashishin(SP?) from MTW......... not only could they hde in the tall grass .......... :dizzy2:
Re: Hiding in tall grass/scrub?
the best units to hide in tall grass are the archer warband.
put um behind the battleline, if the line breaks retreat and hide, while your melee units route enemy chases, yu stand up and shoot um in the back.
i succesfully did that in multiplayer once, still lost cause i suck at using gaul but it was a barb only match. :medievalcheers:
Re: Hiding in tall grass/scrub?
you should have used foresters they are exelent archers and decent dighters they once beat up 4500 romans while outnumbered 1:3
