Unlock fractions with new patch ?

Hi there,

I love the new patch, makes the game seem totally different... but i would like to carry on playin the british faction...

Ive tried installing the patch over TR 5.1 but it keeps crashing..

I must have re-installed the game 5 times in the past 2 days... but i cant get the TR 5.1 + Patch 1.2 to work...

Any ideas on how to unlock the fractions with the new patch... This is the only tweak id like to implement...

Fractions? you might need to know a bit of maths for that. ~D

Use mods and such at your own risk. If you have/had an unpatched game or version 1.1, the 1.2 works perfectly.

Because so much has been changed in the 1.2 patch, almost every mod, especially the big ones such as TotalRealism, will not work.

As for the factions being unlocked, there is a thread somewhere here explaining how to do it yourself for the factions normally playable (change one file I think). If it's the non-playable factions you want to play as, I'm afraid you'll have to wait for a new version of TotalRealism that is compatible with the 1.2 patch.

to unlock the unlockable factions goto:

C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

then open the descr_strat.txt file

you will then see:

campaign imperial_campaign
playable
romans_julii
romans_brutii
romans_scipii
end
unlockable
egypt
seleucid
carthage
parthia
gauls
germans
britons
greek_cities
end
nonplayable
romans_senate
macedon
pontus
armenia

NB: i can't get the spaces right but you will see what i mean when you open the file

i had to uninstall and reinstall (i needed the space), but now i need to complete the tutorial and a short campaign in order to unlock the various non-roman factions.

how can i get around this?

i seem to remember a file in that same folder that simply said "yy" in it and nothing else. is that 'yes tutorial is done, yes short campaign is done...' ? so that all the unlockable factions are unlocked?

open up the pref file and change: FIRST_TIME_PLAY :TRUE to FIRST_TIME_PLAY :FALSE

doing that skips the need to do the tutorial

YOU can run tutorial like 5 sec's and then hit exit game,so you can play Imperial Campaign! :charge:

you can use the units of RTR and other mods cause some mods had pretty cool uints i still have them
