Custom Battles

In a custom battle is there any way to set it up so you can use troops from different time periods? More specifically, is there a way to use Viking campaign units against regular campaign units?

As far as I'm concerned, Welsh Bandits are the most friggin' awesome unit in the entire game (though that may just be my Welsh heritage speaking :grin: ). I've paired them off one on one with every other VI unit and was amazed at how many they could beat in pure melee without even using their bows. I'd like to see how they perform against many of the regular campaign troops, but it makes me limit my custom battles to a specific time period before I can go any further. Not all that "custom," in my opinion. :thinking2:

It is not really possible to open the custom battle files to mix and match periods as you would like. But you can do exactly that with historical battles if you are prepared to write a little code. There is a guide at the top of the forum to guide you through the process.
