What type of mouse do you use ??
Hi everyone ~
Recently I purchased a new mouse and moved from a ball mouse to an optical scroll mouse. The optical scroll mouse looks nice but seems to randomly move on occasion which messes up my battles :furious3: . Has anyone any thoughts or experiences on both types of mouse?

Re: What type of mouse do you use ??
I moved from ball to opti-scroll a couple years ago. I noticed the same lack of precision....changed mousepads to a more varigated surface and image, and it seemed to do the trick. Those light beams need to have something to detect when they're moved over a surface. The worst was a reflective white-board kinda mousepad. The best was a multi-colored, rough surfaced pad.
Now I've made the switch to laser (the Logitech MX1000). It can detect motion on ANYthing, it seems - even my naked knee (I have a laptop).

Re: What type of mouse do you use ??
I have the mx 1000 too, its a great mouse. the only negative thing about it is that it took 2 weeks to get used to it. that has also lead to many people claiming it is a bad mouse etc, etc. becouse the move from a mouse of "normal shape" (razor diamondback) to mx 1000 expecting to get used to it in one hour.

Wow, shorts.
I haven't worn shorts for months.

Re: What type of mouse do you use ??
Random motion with an optical (or jitteriness) is pften caused by the surface you are using it on. Experiment. Many pads work poorly for opticals. I use my bare desktop, despite its wood grain. It could be lower scan rate or lower precision design, but I would focus on the surface first.
I use a Logitech MX300. Nice simple ambidextrous design, but with the higher grade scanning. I don't like bulky or misshapen designs that are the norm anymore. Rule #1: if I can't use it with easily in either hand, then it doesn't belong on my desktop.

Re: What type of mouse do you use ??
On the old computer my family uses we have a new optical Logitech with keyboard. Wireless rechargeable. Mx 700. Works very well, but my family never lets it charge.
On my gaming computer I have an old but very good Logitech trackball. No clue what model, but it has the ball in right where your thumb goes and is very good for everything. A little bit tricky when it comes to sniping, but even better than a normal mouse for normal close quarters fighting. It has 2 buttons and a scroll wheel. It is wired, thank god the fluorescent lights mess with my keyboard when the batteries get low.
POST 1000!

WHAT?? :jawdrop:
5 buttons?? what program in the world would need 5 buttons, what do you use them for???

Re: What type of mouse do you use ??

At least three is what I need for daily use. The extra two (actually all five) are programmable. I use one for autoscroll lock. The fifth one is reserved.
This is nothing. A4 have a model with eight programmable buttons. ~;)

Re: What type of mouse do you use ??
I use an $8 laser mouse from a no-name I got at a computer show. Works like a charm.
Also use my fiancee's Wacom drawing pad and pen sometimes... that was MUCH more than $8, and is a completely different experience.

Re: What type of mouse do you use ??
I use the generic Microsoft Optical Mouse, 3 buttons, it gets the job done. ~:)
Although, now that I think about it, I do want a more comfy, game-orientated mouse, any suggestions?

Re: What type of mouse do you use ??
My logitech trackball is extremely comfy, but they take some time to get used to. Once you learn the skill you never do forget it...
Basically it is formed to fit perfectly for your hand, your hand is slightly curved around it and the mouse is curved and bulged to make it more comfortable. I have not seen a left handed version and if you are left handed you would have to move the ball with your pinky....
Anyone else use trackballs?

Re: What type of mouse do you use ??
I have the A4tech 8-button mouse, mainly because it was on sale. I don't have any real use for 8 buttons, but it's nice to have a couple extra apart from the usual two and the buttons doesn't get in the way either.
It's a very good mouse, i had a Logitech cordless optical but it drained batteries like nothing else!! It got a little bit better when i started using a lighter mousepad, with the black pad i had originally the batteries lasted two days at the most! With the lightgrey pad they last four or maybe five days.
Not good.
The A4tech is with a cord but it doesn't bother me, i'm not about to take the mouse out for a walk...

Logitech MX510 Optical performance mouse.
One of the best mice available, for gaming and for anything else. The new Logitech MX518 (eight not zero) is due to be released april and will go head to head with Razers very tasty Diamond and Razorback gaming mice at the very top end of the quality spectrum.
About 25-30 sterling at your nearest PCWorld.

Re: What type of mouse do you use ??
I have a Logitech MX510 Optical Mouse as well. Very nice mouse it is, seems like it's moulded for your hand. Looks good too. It has 7 buttons and one wheel. Only problem with it is that crap off your hands tends too stick to it, so if i'm going to use the computer, i wash my hands first. And if my little bro touches it with his grubby mitts, i smack him in the face.
