What is the best way to earn more Florins in a Campaign by raising taxes or lowering them.I am playing the Viking invasion of Britian in the Custom Campaigns and am having a difficult time making florins as it keeps going down.How to I earn more Florins?Thanks.
Always have the taxes as high as possible without triggering a rebellion. Lowering the taxes is only good for maintaining loyalty. Auto-taxing works great.
For the viking campaign is the best way to build monastaries (preferbly outside the range for viking raids at the beginning of the game) or farm upgrades. Those are slow to build, but the only way to gain money.
Otherwise is invasion of your neighbour a good choice, gives more land (=money) and decreases the amount of troops you have (=less support cost).
It's considerbly harder to get a great economy in this map compared to ther regular campaign. BTW plan your expenses if low on money, it will help you greatly.
For the vikings themself at the beginning? One word. RAID! ~D
I playing the campaign where there are no nieghbours only Hordeland and Jutland to the south and the British Isles to the west.I am gettin an idea though a few more tips would be nice.Thanks.
In my games my main money shortage comes when I am not fighting powerful enough enemies and my troops are draining my cash. In that case I go off and have a merry war and lose a bunch of troops and get a lot of money, then I build a bunch of troops and the cycle continues.
As the Vikings, the best thing to do is to set taxes to auto. Not because it's unimportant, but because in the viking starting position, tax income is virtually non-existant and a waste of time. If you want money, then you spread out your ships all around England and Ireland. Then, start rampaging through weakly defended provinces (preferable those with monastaries) and youll make plenty of cash off of the raiding, and dont forget to destory everything there once you capture it. Don't even bother trying to hold it, just keep plowing through to build up a nice big war chest. Once you have what you think will last you for a while, it's normally a nice idea to conquer ireland rather than simply raid it, and use it as a new staging point for your invasions. After that its normally a walk in the park if you invade from Scotland and make a steady push south until the game's over.
If you're playing as the vikings, remember to physically attack buildings during battles for extra cash. If playing with another faction then destroy useless buildings you own yourself, don't build any units and build fortifications. one unit should garrison each province in a castle + wall. If you get attacked, sit tight and wait for relieving forces or rebellion.
I gather from what you are all saying is that in essence the Vikings don't need to think about Florins or money to pay to build things?In the beginning of the campaign there are only coastal ships do I use those for raiding Britain or build bigger ones?I am playing the mercians for now as I didn't save the Viking camp and will return to it.When the florin start going into the-red I don't have to be concerned with it I hope not as Darius has said?Thanks
ps I am really enjoying this game as it makes you think more than other games I play which are Star Trek games and I it can be considered an rpg.I will once I am ready for MP will enjoy that as well.
The vikings themself gets a bonus for raiding and destroys every building automatically, so you can gain plenty of money only by raiding. I've gotten more than 50k only by raiding (for multiple raids that is) several times.
For every non-viking faction, read my previous statement. Those factions aren't good at raiding BTW. And avoid getting into red.
There is one thing I am having a hard time moving my warriors over to Britian every time I pick up an army and place it on Britian it move back to Hordaland.What am I doing wrong and I placed them in the ships that on the map and there was no glow to show they were aboard?How do you move your army across the water to start raiding?Thanks.
You have to have a chain of ships from the province you are in to the province you want to attack. Then just drop the army on that province.
What is a chain of ships and I am in Hordaland and Jutland I am noob.
You have to have ships in every sea area between the province your army is in and the province you want to attack.
You alo have to have no enemy ships in the sea spaces inbetween. Nuetral ships do not matter but if you are already at war with someone you need to make sure to wipe their navy out before attempting an amphibious assault.

After you conquer the province, be sure to set it's taxes to very high and then just leave. You'll collect whatever taxes are there until it rebels or is taken over, but sometimes it will stay yours for a while before that happens, so it's basically free money. Once you are steadily plowing through the enemy provinces, you shouldnt have any more money problems. Also, dont worry too much about garrisoning your home provinces, it is actually impossible for anyone other than you to reach it, so only keep what might be necessary in order to prevent any rebellions that might take place. Once you start seeing bishops move around, be sure to start getting assassins to eliminate them. The last thing you want is for them to convert your population to Christianity since once your people turn from their Pagan Gods, you lose the ability to gain the full price for the buildings you raid, which can put a real damper on your fighting abilities.
If you're playing anyone other than the Vikings though, you pretty much have very little to fear. The AI has almost no concept of how to go about effectively raiding, and will simply try to immediately conquer some provinces, which typically ends in them eventually getting pushed out and forced into a permanently negative income, and thus making them a non-entity for all time there after.

Abbeys are the key, always be in the search for one... i don't remember the exact amount, but it is a significantly greater amount of cash you gain from raiding one of those.
Other than that, sometimes rebels are your best friends. More than once in my vikings campaigns i had to face a full stack full of peasants and sprearmen, piece of cake, of course; but the important thing is that i managed to capture most of the survivors, nd that would give me just the money i needed to keep going on.

Since you're playing as the Vikings and there's no GA mode for that campaign, eventually you'll have to start keeping the provinces you invade. When you do, I'd put taxes on High at the highest. I've heard it reduces the amount of vices your governors get, and it seems to have that effect in the campaign.

At the beggining of the campaign (european campaign only), you may choose between two options to get victory: one is by conquering and the other one is through Glorious Achievements
2faced tries to remind you that you can't hit and run forever, eventually, you will have to keep some of the provinces.
I saw a folder that consisted of the amount of Florins a in a Campaign and I was wondering if it is ok to edit it.I am not sure of the folder name but how can you give yourself more florins for starting out in SP Campaign not MP and would this affect MP.Thanks.

I usually wait until I built a decent Joms VIking/Huscarles facilities in the Scandinvian provinces. With a large navy its possible to make tons of money just off of trade. In my experience it is better to hit all the isolated islands, giving you bases to produce non-elite troops. Many players say Ireland next, then whomever is weakest.
The viking royal family is very useful in battles: If oyu manage these guys correctly, you can have a fort level army without even having a warrior hold, so you can raid as you please without the worry of not having a good army.
