Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
if you look further into that txt, you will find faction illyria instead of greek cities!
-
Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
You'll also find mention of Night Raids as an additional type of battle alongside siege... and also the pants Bob standard bearer!
-
Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
I knew you people would like this...

Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
Perhaps some of these features will make an appearance in the (no we're not announcing an) expansion (yet). ~;)

Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
If you go through the graphics and text files there are dozens of things that look like CA were thinking of implementing at some stage, but then decided against it. Attempting a night battle was one such thing left out, as well as of dozens of historical battles, different units, triumph goals etc.
Looking at the graphics is even more interesting. Appears there were more events to take place (Barbarian Hordes invading for example), the option to decimate soldiers (one pic shows Scipii soldiers at the mercy of the Jullii), and also generals and governors could be promoted and demoted.
There are also graphics for Kidnap missions, Rescue missions and poison water as well as thieving. Interestingly there's also a graphic entitled, 'Wonder Built', suggesting you had to build them yourself.
But also the game looked to be very more complicated in terms of buildings: brothels, storage facilities, masonry workshops, admiralty HQ, inns, metalsmiths, fletchers, fishing fleets, Roman Elephant Dealers and dozens more buildings. In fact I imagine building was to be more along the lines of MTW than the simplistic affair we have now.
It's a shame to see just how much effort went into RTW, but for whatever reasons, much was left out and what they did leave in was quite simplistic. I hope the expansion or next title increases the scope of the game somewhat.

Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
In medieval there was a little bit of this, but i have to agree that the amount of ideas that weren't implemented in Rome is greater and, most important than that, it seems like it would add a lot to the overall gameplay (of course, if not bugged). Damn, i really hope the xpansion enables some of these features.

I've seen that too, somewhere in the files. I suppose it would have been an RTW version of the Golden Horde.

Another thing that would have made RTW more like MTW, which in turn would have made it more difficult. And all the other things that you said. It would have made the game much better.

Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
I feel that Rome: Total War was worth my money, because I got a large amount of enjoyment out of it and because I have never played anything like it. However, I will no longer support Creative Assembly unless the expansion is radically better. Surprisingly, new features are of only secondary interest to me. I want them to iron out all existing problems before adding features.

Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
There's also a "decimate" animation within the animation packs, which has the general on the campaign map stab himself in the stomach, fall to his knees, and then to the ground.

Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
Cool....you can watch your emperor commit suicide.
-
Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
haha, sounds cool..
do they have assasination/sabotage animations as well?
that would be cool..
-
Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
Sure. The spy walks up to the city reeeally quiety, then looks around nervously, and keeps looking around as he empties a container upon the city, of what I'd imagine is gunpowder or something like that, some explosive element. Then he shakes the last of the element out of the container and returns to regular stance. Assasination animation IS the one we see in the game with the guy in the club. However! We can change it :-D to whatever we want.

GOOD find.!
well done ~

Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
sounds brilliant! lol,
maybe the stuff they "forgot will be in the expansion ~

Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
Oh, please! CA enable them all! I never rant about your game, never complain about bugs, never spam your e-mail or these boards. I bought your game and will buy it again if you just enable those you've done! The MTW building system was fascinating! Rome's looks good at first but it's too fast. Shogun's animations are one of the best feature ever in Total War and we all know what a good MTW governor system do. Please, please, please, please! Add them to the Xpack please! :balloon2: :balloon2: :balloon2:

Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
man this is old news, only the names are there, but no stats, textures or other things are anywhere to be founded. but the navalbattle is new, and interesting

Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
My take on these is different: please CA, don't try to include more bells and whistles in the XP. Just try to get the things that are currently in the game working. IMHO, CA were too ambitious when it came to adding fancy stuff into the game when it really needed more testing/better AI/better diplomacy/etc.
-
Re: Ooh, forgotten things...
Lord of The Isles, this isn't ambitious stuff that's dressed up in bells, ribbons, whistles and all nice things. This was an attempt to make RTW like a glorified MTW, the RTW which most people seem to have wanted.

WHAT!?!
No, I'm not angry with CA at all!
I'm serious. Search for AntiochusIII's post and check for a more serious ranting than occasional complaints.
You...you...you make me angry! ~D
