Allies and Axis Total War

The World War 2 Mod will be a massive overhaul. The mod will include guns, tanks, and aircrafts. Yes, no joke, airplanes will be implimented. (althought they may not be in the first version) Turns will last 1 month, to increase the length of the campaign. It will span from 1933 to 1955. There will be trenches that will act as a wall type, mortar squads, flak88 guns, anti-tank weapon squads (panzerfaust's, bazookas, etc) and much much more. Stay tuned.

Why would there be Romans in world war 2? Love tis idea. I think it will be very popular if u can include aircraft. If you can how do you intend to do it? Will the campaign map be to conquer the world or just wipe out the allies/axis? Maybe you could have something representing north africa?

Sorry, I meant Romanians. Anyway, Allies and Axis is just a name. Though it's point is to conquer "the world" which happens to be the campaign map. I could do some North Africa stuff.

Australia? We did fight in Europe you know, we werent exclusively in the Pacific...North Africa etc.

Indeed, we did a LOT more than Spain, who were neutral ~;) , or Ireland (I dont believe I've heard of any battles involving Irish, though I could be wrong).

In contrast, Australians were the main force which held and won the Siege of Tobruk, who beat a Japanese army some 5 times their size (and they were 'reserves' too, not the real army) in Papua.

I think you might be in for a surprise if you think the Irish did nothing....

Instead of just Australia, why not have ANZAC so that the player controls both Australia and New Zealand, and I do agree, Australia did perhaps more good in North Africa than the Brits did, and New Zealand Likewise in Greece and Crete. Also The Aussies and New Zealanders managed to hold onto New Guinea in fiercely and cost the Japanese a lot of valuable men and resources. My Great-Uncle was an RAF pilot who ran valuable protocol papers, that couldn't be intercepted by the Japanese (thats why they didn't relay them using radio), but he was shot down over Myanmar and then was rescued by an ANZAC platoon.

I'd love to help if I can (I've been waiting for a WW2 mod since MTW) but I'm afraid I don't I have any modding skills. (I've begun learning modelling in Blender but I can't do much at the moment) :sad:

Just a though... how are you gonna pull it off.. in the WW 2 the formations of the unites weren't the same as in the Roman era... just imagen german "sturmtruppen" in phalanx ~;)

Well that's Bullshit, if it weren't for Monty's strategic genius then the war in Africa would have been lost...why Australia as a separate faction? It would make more sense to have Anzac and Canadian troops as a special unit available to the British once they build a certain building.

Do any of you guys want to join this?

great mod idea! I'll be watching it closely, for aircraft you could do it the same way as fleets, with them able to attack other air forces and bomb towns in the same way as the fleets blockade ports. Is it impossible to do this?

I think i'd like to help out with this...provide some concept art, ideas, unit cards etc, as well as PR and human management (kreig can vouch for my abilities in these areas).

Post a reply if you'd like me in...I'd suggest a platoon or company structure for this mod - either groups of 30 or 90-100 men...

what if you drop Ireland and put in Belgium? alot of Irish fought in the British army, but I think Ireland itself was neutral.

Why don't you guys have Canada in there? We lost almost 40,000 troops in world war two! We had an Juno beach to ourselves in D-day.

Well any ways The map could be just Europe and north Africa.

Spain was nuetral in the war.

But you guys wernt a big part in the war............

Everyone knows if it was ent for the US there would be no europe just an german empire

The CCCP took Berlin, not the US. ~D

I agree with zarakov, if the US wouldn't have come in Europe we would be saved by the Russians. Too bad that Joseph Stalin himself destroyed the beautiful idea of communism :furious3:

and russia was beating back the Germans. The russians were taking 75% of germanies army. Russia also took berlin. Canada's air force was the 3rd largest air force in the world in world war two. I would say that Canada would be in the top five powers that took down Hitler. Canada also had the best troops in the war. And they were most fear by the Germans. Canada took belgium and Holland. We were the first to reach berlin. Juno beach was the most succesful which was exclusively Canadian with the fewest casualties aswell.

How were you the first to Berlin when Berlin was taken by RUSSIA? ~:)

Also, Canada was more afraid of being attacked by the US then Germany. And Canada was quickly out classed by Soviet and American Troops & equipment by wars end. ~;)

4 things won the war in Europe. U.S. / U.K. troops, the B-17, the P-51 (brits helped with the rolls-royce engine), and Patton. Get your facts straight.

The Soviets advanced on Berlin faster due to the fact that the bulk of the German troops were deployed in Western Europe not the east (as well as its best generals), Not to mention the amount of German technological effort and production that was focused on the UK. I've never heard of any German V1 or V2 rockets striking russian cities. Germany spent approximatly 1,400 aircraft alone bombarding UK in preparation for the land invasion operation "Sea Lion". the UK were able to repulse them due to the deployment of radar and the fighter aircrafts which included Hurricanes and the majestic Spitfires. Just at the point when the UK's airforce couldnt so much as get a kite airbourne, Hitler called off the assault. If he hadnt, the English would be speaking German, at which point he could have focused on finishing the Soviets.

The might of the German industry was brought to a crawl considerably due to strategic long range bombing by the American and British bombers (mostly American bombers as we went deeper into Germany not to mention we bombed in the day as opposed to the night bombings by british who couldnt see their targets. They did manage to burn Dresden(?) to the ground with incindiary ammo on "accident", as well as do some dashing aerobatics with mosquito bombers). American bombers(b-17 / b-24) targeted critical prodution points deep in Germany -including- ball bearing plants and oil refineries which proved to be key to slowing aircraft and vehicle production. The Soviets couldnt do anything who were busy getting their rear ends handed to them up until the point of Stalingrad, where the Germans froze to death(the germans only brought windbreakers, whereas the soviets were covered in Yak fur). The Soviets did manage to come away with a good fighter plane the yak-9, a good fighter/bomber, some female pilots and a decent tank from the whole affair.

And lastly, the Soviets didnt have to deal with the massive German counter attack, because it went west(which happened to run out of fuel do to relentless bombing against german refineries from american bombers). Towards the end, Germany did try to shift manpower to the east to slow the Soviet advance on Berlin as to allow the UK/US forces to negotiate the German surrender to -anyone- but the Soviets. You see, Germany had pissed the Soviets off tremendously. When Germany was invading Soviet held territory, the Soviets resorted to burning their own countryside up rather than let it fall in the hands of the Germans. When the Soviets finally got the offensive, Stalin and the Soviets adopted the policy "I dont care if you have to spend 10 soldiers lives to kill one German, Get-R-Done!", which ended up not being as bad as they expected, as the Soviets had developed useable equipment by then. Not only that, but they faced "conscription" forces along the way to Berlin.

The US alone lost 250,000 airmen.

Allied troop casualties mounted in the millions with the Soviets taking the lead on that(1.2 million if not mistaken.)

Civilian casaulties in Europe reached the double digit millions, some estimates ranging from 13-37 million, some even more.
