MTW.. looking for a mod guide for...

I have been playing wes's mod for some time and loved it..then downloaded and instaled the XL mod..and ive enjoyed it but not as much..but the changed map has inspired me to try my hands at altering the map itself.

the guide in the mod section seems a bit incomplete .. i need a step by step from start to finish guide..
do i simply redraw the multi colored map to match what i want? how does the game determine wich province is witch? how do i change the text on the final map to give the provinces the visible name i want for them? etcc..

i relize this isnt the right forum for this but i am a new patron (not by date but by posts) so i couldnt start it where i should of .. so feel free to move it if need be.
