Re: New.
Welcome to the Org General|Tildor
Unfortunately there are some folks in the lobby who are less than friendly, and a couple who are downright @$$h*!3$.
Answer a few questions please
Are you playing regular MTW or MTW Vikings? I'd suggest upgrading to VI if you can it's a better game and IMHO there are more mature players in the lobby (there are some great folks in regualr MTW lobby too, but also more jerks if you ask me)
Where do you live and what time of day can you be online?
Can you host?
There are many many good players who are willing to help new folks out. Don't let the losers bother you.

Re: New.
General, look for folks with a “CoH” at the end of their player names.
It stands of Code of Honor, and means that they have taken a pledge to be Honorable.
I don’t know which Total War game you are playing, but The Code is universal. Though you will most likely find Code signers in Rome Total War, I'm sure you will see a few in the Medieval foyer also.
Hang in there, it “is” worth it ~;)

Re: New.
I am playing Viking Invasion. I have not seen anyone there with the COH behind, them, though I could have missed it. I played some stupid jerkes who cussed me out when I beat them. How can I take a code of Honor. Oh, and I raraly get online, since supposily I am not suppose to play anyone I don't know, and only one of my friends play against me. I live on the east coast of USA.
General Tildor
PS: Thank you.

Re: New.
It is an unfortunate reality that many people in the foyer seem to lack social skills, GeneralTildor. There are many honorable players, however. I cope with the less-than-gracious people by using the #ignore function and avoiding games populated by rude folks.
To use the "ignore" function, type #ignore and the the nickname of the player you want to ignore. After you do this you will not see anything they type. You can also type #ignore and then click on their name on the list.
Since you can host, you can put up your own games and play with those with whom you enjoy playing. If undesirables invade, rehost, password the game, and invite the players you like via private message.
For a variety of reasons, not all good sports use the .CoH suffix after their nickname. It is a fairly new Code, so word is still spreading. Also, the CoH is really formalizing an informal code of behavior that has existed for many since TW games were first played online. Usually (but definitely not always), established clan players are pretty nice. There are many adhoc clans out there though, and some of these aren't so nice.
Illegitimus non carborundum est, as they say ~:). Good luck, and most important--Have Fun! Happy hunting ... .
