Terrain and vegetation possibilities?

Really trying to find ways to vary the terrain in particular places so that battles have some more variety than 80% of the ones we see over and over. Has anyone seen anything that was particulary cool or interesting in terms of how the terrain and vegetation combined in a battle map? Is there a way to get "forests" of the palm trees? What about really lush areas like around the Nile? What would be the best combination of climate and terrain to imitate it? Any way to get "rainforests" or better looking scrub terrain?
