Sorry if you are already aware of this.:embarassed:
Any way, this issue could have a huge affect on EB, as it appears the charge bonus does not work the way you think it would. :charge:
Re: Does the EB team know about this?
Yes I've seen these threads. The Cav charge bonus does work, but not to the extent I would like, I've been forced to find work arounds but stating is going well so far. Thanks for the links though, I was looking for them a few days ago to check the progress and couldn't find thme :embarassed:.
Re: Does the EB team know about this?
i've seen these threads tossed around for a while, but never bothered to read/skim through, i've always though cav charge worked fine?
anyone want to just brief me?
Re: Does the EB team know about this?
too me it worked fine.
the "tests"of this person is not the same: comparing the kills of preatorian on Silver Shield with the charge of Companions on urban cohorts. thats not the same. and the angle of charge can be different.
I myzlef thought companions were inferior to cataphracts. so i did some modding on the charge bonus, and there was a difference.

Yhose were just his initial tests. They got more complex and accurate later. Read the whole thing.

Your welcome ~:) Glad to hear that stating is going well ~
Just out of curiosity, what are you using for a work around? Descr_mount_effects?
But wait, doesn't this charge bonus issue also effect the infantry charge?
Re: Does the EB team know about this?
Re: Does the EB team know about this?
I've been reading through them and I noticed all the tests were done with a frontal charge.
Maybe the charge bonus only applies if you charge from the side or rear. Or maybe it just doesn't count that significant when charging from the front.
I'm just speculating, cause I've done no testing myself, also I don't know how to mod anything so....

"descr_units_stats.txt"
~ :dizzy2: perhaps you could be more clear? Thanks.
EDIT: There is no such file, perhaps you meant some thing else?
Re: Does the EB team know about this?

Even so it's still wrong. Cataphracts advanced at an ambling pace, while companions charged in at full throttle. Companions had much more impact as a result.
Best use of Parthian forces ever was Carrhae. What did the cataphracts do? Threaten to charge into the cohorts, who bunched together to recieve the charge, but then wheel off just before impact and have the horse archers bring down a barrage on the legionaries.
The only real melee they got into was against Gallic cavalry, which attacked them, and the heavy armor of the cataphracts was enough to quickly decide the skirmish in the favor of the cataphracts.
When were cataphracts used wrongly? Tarsus, 43 BC. Plenty of horse archers present, but they were kept at bay by massed slingers. What did Pacorus, the Parthian commander, do? He charged the cohorts with his cataphracts. What happened? Almost immediately the charge was stopped and the cataphracts killed, a simple reverse repeat of Tigranocerta.
Cataphract power of impact is massively overrated in history.
