In the wake of the various recent ructions over at TWC & possibly spreading to other forums, I'm feeling worried that our prescious .org might get caught up in it too.
Have you guys taken any steps to minimise the likelihood of the .org falling foul?
What exactly was the issue?

Tosa has recent back-ups ready to go and up to date software and security for the .org. We're aware of the twc situation and are on "high alert" so to speak ~;)

BTW anyone know what is happening with ezboard today?
From what I've heard, vB is a great deal more secure than Invision anyway. Don't quote me on that, though, since I personally have no idea. I do like the software better generally. And I also look forward to playing with my shiny changed mod powers once TWC goes back up. ~;)

Yup Sulla was given sole power. Anyways I don't think that the .org is going to be a target. This is a pretty fair place, and I don't think anyone would have a grudge against it.
With TWC, i don't think there was a grudge, just some hyperactive mad script-kiddie, looking to have some fun and ruin some lives.
Alright thats it. We'll hand out depressants to all .org members. That way none are hyperactive, and all are safe.

Yes, but I don't believe the .org has stirred up so much grudges as TWC has. Their are very few if any politics within the forum carried on here. Their is no structured hierarchy besides the very few and easily passed levels that insure the integrity of the board, and even they have been relaxed to some point.
I would agree, the lack of hierarchy is definately beneficial to the board, because it makes almost everyone equal - eliminating many bothersome superiority claims as arguments in debates, etc. Plus the moderators here are a lot more fun. :bow:

I wouldn't call it communism, mabey more akin to an enlightened monarchy. Even then the .org is not a monarchy.
oligarchy would probably be the closest, since that includes one head, and a ruling aristochracy just underneath.

I would say that the .Org is sort of an example of communism wehn it actually works. No true ruler, everyone is pretty much equal, and thus everyone is happy, so there is no reason for someone to hate us all and want to destroy this place like TWC was destroyed.
Then what is TosaInu? Just because he rarely chooses to exercise his powers, doesn't mean he isn't a ruler.
I wouldn't call him a ruler... more of protractor :grin:

It does seem to fit deliciously well with their roleplaying. And it's nicely symmetrical that their 'Dictator' is called Sulla. THe Roman's revamped the dictatorship for Sulla (it had fallen into disuse for about 150 years before his appointment to the post). A whole load of investigations, proscriptions and purges took place, during which many personal vendettas were merrily 'resolved' through the simple medium of sticking heads on pikes.
I'm sure none of that will take place at TWC
Reforms have happened, though. The Syntagma was substantially changed at Sulla's sole discretion (with some input from the Civitates). I agree, it's pretty neat. ~D
