just group them together, either just the two or as a part of a bigger group.

The thing to remember about kensais is that they are always fighting one-handed! Imagine how much worse they would be if they did not have to hold those enormous flags in the other hand.
The great MP player AmpMortog aka. AMP used to buy 16 kensai units and group them together and overlap them one on top of the other. Not sure exactly how he managed that, but the effect was a 16x effect on enemy morale and he could move them all simultaneously and rout just about any army with them. It was rather funny to watch and fortunately not many knew how to do it or it would have ruined MP. :)

i did the Kensai-No-Dachi thing in custom battle but instead of grouping them i accidentally routed them - losing my Kensai general in the process :(
How annoying. . .I have routed my armies sometimes too, when I wanted to group. :dizzy2:
OK, did some tests:

* First battle: I retreat kensai and see if No-Dachi beat yari's
- No dachi's loose, yaris are stronger.
*Second battle: I retreat No-dachi and see if kensai is stronger
- Kensai looses, yaris are stronger
*third battle: I attack from the front with both kensai and No-Dachi
-I still loose, yari's are stronger
*fourth battle: I attack with ND and then attack from the rear with the kensai
-Even this time I loose.
It appears that high-honour yari's beat up low-honour shock troops, even when flanked.

Drisos - remember the units describes aren't the definitive shock troops (in fact i feel these units are deficient and don't give the full view)

The concept was to hide the kensai in the no-dachi unit until the charge at his yari's. Sadly, it appears that the AI always targets the No-dachi in stead of the Kensai, but the kensai cannot keep the yari's from attacking your no-dachi, because he's only alone. That way, his yari's always manage to charge at my no-dachi and they just stop moving, that way the flank fails. This can be done if the No-dachi are far behind the kensai, because the kensai is strong enough to survive for a while and the yari's won't target the no-dachi when they are far away. But the the yari's get in a battle with the kensai and the no-dachi can flank. That way, this can be done.Quote:
