clint eastwood or sean connery.
Al Pacino.
So many actors to choose from I couldn't possibly name a favorite. However, if forced to choose I'd go with...
Gary Oldman - I firmly believe Gary is the best actor of our times. He gets a bad reputation for being 'over the top' but that's really on account of the types of roles he's been given, Hollyweird is notorious for pigeon holing actors into certain types of roles. I'm a huge film buff and of all the films I've seen from yesteryear and today I've never seen anyone who could change their appearance, let alone their accent or their voice like Gary does. Regarding recognition Gary's biggest problem is that he often gets really juicy roles in some seriously mediocre films. His portrayal of Beethoven in "Immortal Beloved" was unbelievable. Were it not for the film being so damn mediocre I believe Gary would have received massive critical acclaim for his performance.
Beyond Gary I'd have to go with Alec Guinness, Lawrence Olivier or Meryl Streep... before she had that sex change operation...
:hide:
I second that. Greatest freaken actor EVER!Quote:
Al Pacino.
Brando is also pretty amazing. De Niro is not bad, but he seems to play the same character over and over, although I loved him in GoodFellas.
~:confused:Quote:
Meryl Streep.
Sir Alec Guinness, Lord Attenborough, Sir Sean Connery, Morgan Freeman.
Dustin Hoffman.
I actually find my opinion reversed with BP. I like DeNiro better, I think he has more range. I like Pacino too, but Pacino is always 'Al Pacino as a blinded army colonel', or 'Al Pacino as the devil...'. I think he was much better when he was younger.
Nobody's mentioned Denzel Washington, so I will. Yes, he does a LOT of action movies, but he does more than just that. I find him to be pretty believable in just about anything he does. If you don't think he has range, rent 'Training Day', but don't say I didn't warn you, it's violent.
Training Day=L337
Anyway... best actor... hmm...
Anthony Hopkins
"Hello Clarice"
I agree with you. Definitely these two.Quote:

Sorry, I posted before I ate lunch. I was delusional with hunger!
Id say Anthony Hopkins. There is something very deep in that man.
Hmmm tough one if I had to choose I'd say Mickey Rourke, with Christopher Walken, Pacino, Deniro respectively. Benicio del Torro is also good-"Who is this Kaiser Soze?" ~D
i third sir anthony hopkins.
Al Pacino, De Niro, Ray Liotta (He is pretty Versitile) and Denzel Washington (Training Day is brilliant, as well as Man on Fire. Everytime I see a movie starring him I know it's gonna be good.)
My favourite movies of all time are Scarface, Goodfellas and the Godfather Trillogy and Heat.
Anthony Hopkins... if you dont think so watch Shadowlands.
Other favorites: Jeremy Irons, Christian Bale and Jack Nicholson.
Edit: Have to add Edward Norton to the list
No real favorite, especially since a lot of the guys listed here have decided to take some crap roles in recent years. Probably need to add Edward Norton to the list, he's one of the better younger actors out there today. And Bruce Willis has done some good work lately (along with some bad).
Lots of good actors already named, but I'd have to add Steve Buscemi and Kevin Spacey.
I'll add John Malkovich as well. ~:) :charge:
Oooh, Star Wars I-III aside, Samuel L. Jackson is pretty damn good.
He got screwed out of an Oscar for Pulp Fiction. That role was made for him. Speaking of PF, Harvey Keitel should get some love here.Quote:

I can't believe no one mentioned George C. Scott, and Peter Sellers. They are amazing actor. Also James Cagney and Hunphrey Bogart are worthy mentions.
Sean Connery, Samuel L. Jackson, Denzel Washington... all great actors.
But Gene Hackman takes the cake. What an actor!

Actors with Class.
Anthony Hopkins.
Sean Connery.
Pierce Brosnan.
John Cleese.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Robert DuVall... also a great actor (and my one of my favorite)
Although you just can't beat Al Pacino in "Scarface".
"Say Hello to my little friend!" :rifle:
How about worst actor??
This is easy: Ashton Kutcher. Terrible. :dizzy2:
I am going to go with John Wayne here, he had to have been good, otherwise why is he in every western?
Rod Steiger.
Simply put, his portrayal of Napoleon in Waterloo is the finest piece of acting I have ever seen, bloody brilliant, what a man.
