How to make new standards?

In the Iberia:TW mod we are currently working in the new symbols, banners and standards. Here you have an example:

We'd like to use this symbol as standard in battles. When I replaced the normal standard for the general unit by this symbol this is the result:

but there are two problems.

1) Minor problem: the cross would be better placed near the center of the symbol. Is there any way to change this without modelling?

2) Major problem: as this model is planned for standards, the flag has a waving movement and hence the "metal" symbol also waves. Does anybody know how to eliminate this movement?
