Me and all my mates hate the page background of the forums, it is horrible and makes the forum look unporfessional. It would be better if you used a colour insead of a texture. (Just a helpful tip) ~

I took the background from R:TW to tie the forum with the game, as in having the same style. Perhaps you could send a letter to CA that their backgrounds make the game look unprofessional, or does it only apply to forums?
You do know you can change the forum skin?
I'm using Sword Dojo
How exactly does it make the forum look "unprofessional"? ~
Well what's your idea of "Professional"? Just wondering. And yes you can change the backround of the forums as Kaiser mentioned.
Calm down, it was only a suggestion
forget i said anything
While i use the old MTW guild skin, cause thats what i got used to. I thought the RTW skin, makes the place look very nice, and quite Professional. Mabey its just me.
I am sorry total war merc i am very hot headed tonight. i opologise for my over reaction.
The Shogun skin AKA Sword Dojo is really nice, easy on the eyes and very mellow, plus it reminds me of the glory days . . .
ichi
BTW the Rome skin is also very appropriate, it is quite formal and looks great
I rather qutie like this skin

edit: Also, how about changing the RTW forum skin logo to a more colorful one:
http://img141.echo.cx/img141/7382/lorg4a3yu.jpg (400x160 pixel, 34 kb).
instead of this:
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/images/rtw/rtwlogo2.jpg
That was resized from the original (800x320 pixel). IMO that larger one would be really nice in the front page of the site as well. ~:)
I love the background. It is much more appealling then any other forum i know of. INfact all of the other total war forums look sloppy to me now after getting use to this one.
That's really nice Quietus, but the lettering is a bit out of kilter with the rest of it. A different style, perhaps? I'm not sure the metal works too well.
Sword dojo for me. It's such a great skin! ~
I've tried out all of them. I like the MTW skin but I'm used to the RTW one now, so I won't change. Sword Dojo is also a very nice skin.
The worst skin, imo, is the Black. White writing on Black background, that gives me a headache.
I use it. I like white on black and in fact use it in other programs too. Bright white tends to give me headaches.Quote:

I like the RTW skin. It's warm and friendly not like the .com which looks like a dungeon.
Thx. What texture/color(s)/font type for the lettering then? ~:) Red/Yellow/Black sort of scheme or colors to mix with the brown background?Quote:

Graphical User Interface design may seem a "no-brainer" to many, but is in fact a complex combination of "art and science." Readability via language; font size, color and style; organization of text and graphics; color coordination, graphics selection and placement, use (or not) of animation ... it's no easy task to design a "good" interface--what is "good" varies from user to user. One of the best types of solutions has been appiled here: skins. They provide users with choices while maintaining certain consistencies that make the board both readable regardless the skin used, and (relatively) easy to maintain for those behind the scenes.
I think the main problem is that many of the board's features are not advertised; new members spend a long time using the stock stuff before discovering they can customize the interface and their "personality" here. Perhaps a sticky describing the many features of this board (not just the skins, but custom titles, avatars, chat, search, etc.) in the Entrance Hall would help new users to discover and use them faster. Maybe it's already there somewhere (I haven't looked) but I thought I'd put this idea forward.
By the way, I like ye olde medieval skinne, or the RTW skin... but I like the skin of the Sengoku Jidai mod (Duke John's... or formerly, wo'eva) the best. Yet I cannot seem to find it in the menu for selecting skins.
So, any tabs on how to use that skin for the entire board, not just upon entering the mod's subforum?

It's not that hard to find. Anyone who takes the time to go through the options panel will come across it.
BTW I use black because it's dark and evil... Mwahaha!
I repeat my request... sorry for the spam, but I just love that skin! ~DQuote:

Ok, thanks for your reply.

The .com indeed looks like a dungeon, and the RTW skin is warm and friendly, as you said. That's why I left the .com, because of the dungeon feeling.Quote:
