Definitive Word on Difficulties?
Ok...
This is my question: Do we have a solid answer on what exactly is the most challenging difficulty setting to use in custom battles and in a campaign?
I'm hearing that M/M is the avg challenge (of course) but what I don't exactly understand, due to the moral/charge bonuses is if I'd find a better campaign challenge with a VH campaign/ hard battles, VH campaign/VH battles etc...
how about in custom battle set up?
I'm about to start a campaign with a barbarian faction and would love to know the facts ahead of time...
Thank you in advance

A thread about RTW's difficulty levels from just a couple of days ago is here:

As far as the campaign difficulty setting goes, Very hard is the most tricky, although mainly because in auto-calculated battles, the AI will get a massive advantage.

thanks for the link...
As for the info on VH campaigns: I never autoresolve battles...does this make a difference?
Re: Definitive Word on Difficulties?
Vh campaign M battle is the best.

Yes this is good as vh campaigns make autoreslove a lose-lose prospect.
Re: Definitive Word on Difficulties?
I've played vh/vh since after my first 3 campaigns. It makes battles tricky because the AI is cheating with a morale bonus etc., so same units matched against each other means AI victory, which means you have to compensate that by extra heavy flanking measures etc. Medium or hard has a more realistic feeling, but the bad thing about those battles is that they're too easy due to the poor coordination of the AI troops. Therefore I tend to stick to vh just for the challenge, even though the tactics you're forced to use donn't necessarily make for realistic battles.
Re: Definitive Word on Difficulties?
I've been playing VH/M since the stuff about difficulties in 1.2 came out. Didn't think it was worth it to play VH since all that would happen would be the battles speeding up. I'm wondering though, is R:TW like M:TW in that on higher difficulty levels, it gains a couple of tricks on or off the field? I heard from a friend that he experienced the AI being more active in blockading or such when on VH, but since alot of that could just be coincidence I figured i'd ask here while we were on the subject.
So, with that mouthful out, anyone know?
