Medieval Total War Or Age Of Empires III
I have been looking at the screen shots of age of empires III, which do you think is the best, medieval or age of empires.
Age of empires has the graphics
but medieval total war has the fun and strategy
I am going with medieval total war...
which do you think is the best??
Re: Medieval Total War Or Age Of Empires III
Medieval of course, but AoEIII is still gonna really kick ass. Before I knew about TW i use to play AoEII all the time and I can't wait for AoEIII. It's one the games I wanna upgrade computer for so I can play it beutifully.
Re: Medieval Total War Or Age Of Empires III
MTW of course. Never go back to the moralless days of AoE.

Re: Medieval Total War Or Age Of Empires III
Age of Empires sucks, always has, always will. Medieval is far better. They are in totally different leagues. Medieval is going for the Premiership while AOE is struggling not to be relegated to the Non-League ~D

Re: Medieval Total War Or Age Of Empires III
They aren't comparable. Different styles of game. I like AoE when I want to play a quick building game. I like TW when I want to play a tactical game.
Re: Medieval Total War Or Age Of Empires III
What are you comparing? They're very different styles of play, and I love both. This is like me asking "What's better? This car or this lion?". Better at what?
In single player, M:TW trumps all. Really nothing better if you want to sit down and plot away for hours. As for multiplayer, the Ao* series takes the cake. I'm part of a moderately-sized, 6 year old Ao* clan and there's really nothing better than gathering 7 of your mates and going at it.
The strategy part of the Ao* series is alot less battle oriented and alot more multitask oriented. Whereas in the TW series, proper field tactics will in the end win the day, in RTS games, it's more about knowing how to balance an economy and military together. As such, the military aspect is alot more simplistic than that of TW, but at the same time, there's a bigger focus on gathering the resources to support this army and its upgrades. Really it's hard to compare the two. They pretty much complement one another. Where one falters, the other succeeds.
That said, no matter what new games, styles, graphics, and systems come out, the AO* series will always have a place in my heart for opening me up to the world of multiplayer gaming :). There's no better nostalgia for me than pulling out the dusty old AoC CD and getting together with some the mates for some good old past-times :).
Re: Medieval Total War Or Age Of Empires III
Age of empire is very very fun, but I like MTW better. Age of empire is a very good real time strategy game, but it is still a standard RTS, a genre practically unchanged since dune II. MTW does a lot more and it just works, even if the turn based strategy isn't really that great. Everything AOE does has been done before, MTW (or better STW) is a flawed gem, totally original. Both have the ability to suck the amount of time that you regret giving it when you are 80 I guess, but I have to give it to total war.
Re: Medieval Total War Or Age Of Empires III
Have any of you played AOE3?
No, of course you have not, because it is not out yet. :argue:
Re: Medieval Total War Or Age Of Empires III
MTW is the best game i have ever played so, MTW :charge:
Re: Medieval Total War Or Age Of Empires III
For sure I will be playing more AoE3 when it's released than MTW.
But the overall hours on each game... MTW will win on that one.
AoE was the game, after Civ1, that brought me into the history realm of games.
