African boys are being murdered as human sacrifices in London churches, according to a shocking Scotland Yard report.
The Met has uncovered a trade in black boys being trafficked into the capital.
A number of fundamentalist sects believe powerful spells require the ritual killing of male children.
The leaked report also reveals countless examples of African children being killed after being identified as "witches" by church pastors.
The 10-month study was commissioned in the wake of the inquiry into the death of Victoria Climbie. The study aimed to be an "open dialogue" with the African and Asian community in Newham and Hackney.
In discussions with African community leaders officers were told of numerous examples of children being murdered because their parents or carers believe them to be possessed by "evil spirits". Police are now investigating claims further.
Earlier this month two women were convicted at the Old Bailey of torturing an eight-year-old child they accused of being a witch.
The girl, an orphaned refugee from war-torn Angola, was stabbed, kicked, beaten, had chilli peppers rubbed in her eyes and was forced into a laundry bag and threatened with drowning in a nearby river.
Last month Scotland Yard revealed it had been unable to trace all but two of 300 black boys aged four to seven reported missing from London schools in a three-month period.
Child welfare experts say the number highlights the scale of the trade in children brought to Britain. The figure emerged through the murder inquiry following the discovery of a child's torso in the Thames in September 2001.
The identity of the victim, named "Adam" by police, is not known but his background was traced to Nigeria. It is believed he died in a ritual sacrifice. Detectives asked each London educat ion authority to give them details of black boys aged four to seven reported missing from school between July and September 2001.
It emerged that 300 had vanished, 299 from Africa and one from the Caribbean.
Police only managed to trace two children. The true figure for missing boys and girls is feared to be several thousand a year.
Scotland Yard's new report into child abuse report, leaked to the Today programme on Radio4, came after the death of Victoria Climbié.
The eight year old was beaten, burned with cigarettes and forced to sleep in a bin liner inside an empty bath. She died in February 2000, suffering from hypothermia and malnutrition.
She had been brought to Britain by relatives claiming her as their daughter and was starved and traumatised after they said she was possessed by the devil.
Her plight was overlooked by police, social workers and medical staff and she died covered in bruises.
Her great aunt and her greataunt's boyfriend were convicted of her murder and were jailed for life at the Old Bailey.
A Met spokesman said: "The Met undertook a project based on recommendations arising from the Victoria Climbié report aimed at improving our knowledge of issues impacting child abuse within the African and Asian communities of London.
"This initiative employed two Community Partnership Officers who conducted the survey over a ten-month period ending in March 2005.
Working in Newham and Hackney, the CPOs ran a number of workshops with various sections of these communities debating issues such as female genital mutilation, physical chastisement, forced marriage and faith-related child abuse.
"The aim of the project was to open a dialogue within these communities and encourage a debate which would help reduce the risks of harm to children.
"The recommendations in the report, due to be published later this month, are being carefully considered at the highest levels in the MPS in conjunction with partner agencies and community groups." The report concludes police face a "wall of silence" when dealing with the fundamentalist African community

I don't agree with this, though I can see your point, I think the problem is that religion like many things evolve as they age and spread then, inevitably, there comes a point when people realise that things aren't how they used to be and want to go back. The problem here is that by the time they want to revert no-one knows how it was and it leaves it all open to interperatation, inviting evils like human, or animal for that matter, sacrifice that mankind has long known is wrong.

Religion per se is not a bad thing but how it is used can be.

All that being said these people give a strong argument for re-introducing the death sentence, ignorance is no excuse for their actions nor do I think they could claim ignorance or tradition as an excuse in this case.

This could be subject to discussion. I agree with you, nonetheless, on the fact that the most important is "how" religion is used.

indeed the problem is religion, not faith or belief however. The problem is the authorities wanting to control or at least 'guide' the faith in one particular direction, as the pope is doing with catholicism, so it becomes a religion.

The faith of the individual is sacred, I believe, as long as they don't murder little african children, asian ones they can do with what they want, though ~;)

Religion can be a tool for great good: it can help the young, bring comfort to the sick and help families rationalise the death of loved ones. It is reaching its maturity in the West and it is becoming a true force for good and the betterment of mankind.

However Religion is a powerful intoxicant. It is still too superstitious, hopefully given time it will evolve to get rid of some of its more...unnecessary and frankly insane tenets. But then again it can also be twisted by those who lust for power and divert it to their own ends in order to achieve even more power. The Taliban and Al Qaeda are perfect examples of this.

One of the problems with this is that Africa is still a very superstitious place in certain ways. Part of the problem is lack of education about things, part is just superstition.

But Religion should never become an excuse to kill anyone, once it does that it is no longer a Religion but a tyrannical organisation more akin to the Nazi Party than anything else.

I hope the people responsible for these deaths rot in jail for the rest of their lives and then burn in their hell afterwards.

And here I thought female circumcision was bad...

I think you said it all Zelda. Afterwards, it is up to everyone to choose between seeing the reality or being comforted by what are, and will remain, superstitions.

Yet Again Mankind fails. This is truly one of the saddest things to happen to mankind since the Genocide of the Tutsi in Rwanda. I have great reverance and respect for life, even though I am hardly religious (or more to speak I have spiritual and moral guidance) This atrocious act must be stopped, obliterated, and all acting parties in this matter need to be taught a serious lession. I don't think an eye-for-an-eye is appropriate (I actually think it never is). But how's about we re-open Devil Island off of French Guiyana. In a country like the UK or the US, or any civilized nation to speak, this is the worst, most unacceptable thing that could happen.

I don't think religion is to blame for this one (actually most modern religions at the core practice tolerance and reverenence for life) but the people behind it need to be blamed. Find the perpetraitors and make a very good public display of the consequences of their actions... what this might be, I do not know... how locking them up in a 3x4 Foot Cell and play "The Best of Spice Girls" over and over and over and over.... make it so they cannot sleep, after nine days let them out to eat a massive meal (this will cause some serious stomach pain) and then throw them back in, rinse and repeat for a couple of weeks, throw them in an insanity ward, and make them conform to civilized standards.

P.S. Not serious about the whole torture thing... absolutely serious about the Sanitarium.

I can't imagine Britain without it. Our Multicultural society is what I think makes Britain great. Its sure as hell beats an inbred, xeno-phobic inwardlooking society by a long shot. Which is what Britain would be like if we didn't have such a wide and varied populace. These people are not the majority they are quite definitively the minority in the African community in London.

Ah well I think my take on multicrime :help: I mean multiculture are pretty much known so I won't bother. But taping 'certainly don't represent as a whole' would be a milestone achievement in oxygine-management.

Can you tell me what the hell that`s got to with it?? It`s hardly likely that this murderous lot would not have killed their own kin if they hadn`t come to Britain. Religion is just like any regular tool, it can be to commit incredibly wonderful acts of compassion and kindness, or it can be used to defend the worst most sadistic evils ever seen.

I don't, who will manage the night shops and kebab stores ? Face it, there are thousands of 'bad' jobs we don't want to do, immigrants, legal or illegal do them for us. And besides, even if you're right, we can't get rid of them without going into Nazi territory. We invited them in, you allowed them in because of colonization, we owe it to these people to allow them to live here within our society, where they should be judged by the same laws as everyone else.

Generalise what? You can see this two ways:
1)that children shouldn't be killed for witchcraft, in Nigeria or Britain
