Sorry for the novice post but after searching for an hour and not finding it I finally gave up. I'm playing the Russians and can't figure out how to draw my melee weapons to charge with my boyars. I can't find the button to click that on anywhere. Also, I got the game from Walmart and it didn't come with the manual so I don't have that as a reference. Right now I can pretty much only use them as Horse Archers with armour. Thanks.
Hm, if I remember it correctly it's either alt or shift + click or it's right click that fixes it.
Hold down alt-key and leftclick to make missile troops attack with their melee weapons.

I Forgot to mention in previous post that MTW Guides forum also has useful infromation. Especially A Beginners Guide to Medieval: Total War by frogbeastegg is very helpfull for new players. If you have more questions about the game best place to ask is MTW - Main Hall.

Alt and double left click makes 'em charge. Missile troops will also switch to melee once they're out of ammo
