Concerning the question which comics are better American or British,
I slightly tend to British. They have some of the finest: Grant Morrison,
Warren Ellis, Neal Gaiman...
But what about Franco-Belgian comics or, my personal God in Comics, Hugo Pratt from Italy?
Anyone sharing my enthusiasm for Moebius (FR), Jason Lutes (US) or Dylan Horrocks (New Zealand)?

I gather that the finale of the film involves a revolution of the populance dressed as V's ,not Moores wonderful cyclical ending,seen the mask though and they've got it spot on.A mask does not a faithful interpretation make,however.
Glad to hear Gaiman mentioned,just finished an exquisite book of his short storys and The Sandman....brilliant ,definately not just for pasty faced goths,Grant Morrison-Zenith,pretty sure Garth Ennis is British,Preacher created with Steve Dillon Had me howling,trembling and musing too much.
Would love to broaden my horizons,what stands out about those guys you mentioned R'as?

I dont think that you can really compare the two genres imo. American comics have Superheroes and (heroines) with superpowers (exception the Caped Crusader) whilst UK types tend more to gadgets and that sort of thing.
Anyhow when you have Alf Tupper (the tough of the track) eating a double fish and chip supper 10 minutes before he runs the fastest mile in history....who needs superpowers?

Come on, man! You know it won't be done right. Watchmen is a very deep, involved story involving alot of character development and flashbacks. Unless divinded into three films (The minutemen, New minute men and Watchmen), the film version will never ever work. And as previously stated, everything a film maker touches of Moore's gets turned to s**t. In fact, as i understand it, Moore has been so disappointed that he refuses to take any royalties from the films (He wanted to stop people making them, but his contactors didn't agree). Thus, poor Alan is stuck watching his creation get annhialiated on the big screen.Quote:

i dont know much british comics but i have seen comedy movies its annoying everything is in fast motion so american comcics are better
American comics have to be much bigger. I dont know about beetter as Ive never heard or seen a british comic while US comics are famous around the world.

Aw, Benny Hill is great. If there're two things my grandfather share, the second one is Benny Hill. It's even become more popular with the younger crowd these days, since the theme ("yackity sax") is hilarious and has been ported to other shows.
I feel like I've slipped into some kind of bizarre parrallel dimension. Benny Hill is terrible!

Would you believe I had every Maresl comic from issue 1 on until I stopped collecting them in 64? I also had all the good DC comics that came out from say 56 until 64 . I must haver had a couple of thousand of them . Its all I spent my allowance and other money on for the most part. Well that and toy soldiers. Man I could retire on those comics if I had them today.Spiderman, Ironman, Waspwoman and Antman, Submariner, Thor, The Silver Surfer,Metalmen, X-Men. I don't know if either British or American comics are better. They don't sell 2000 A.D. on this side of the Atlantic. If they ever did I never saw it for sale. The watchmen was good but way too morbid. You get the same thing with Marvel-man, or after some legal troubles renamed Miracle-man when sold in North america. Someone said when Moore wrote Miracle-man it was the most violent comic book, and when Gaiman wrote it the least violent.

It forced me to completely reasses my opinion regarding Batman.
I've never been much of a Comic Reader, but my guess is that they're biased towards each nation, American's pretty much love/like American Super Heroes exclusively, British love theirs, Japanese love theirs, etc. etc. Doesn't mean one is better than another, more so it's just cultural difference that most don't understand.
I like Benny Hill...
But Michael Palin,John Cleese, and Eric Idol are soooo much better.

Apparrently Benny Hill and Mr Bean are the two most watched British comedies globally. (probably because they don't need translating). The world must think we are morons.
Anyway, OT, V for Vendetta is probably the best "big expensive comic" (to quote Alan Moore) I've read and I loved 2000AD as a kid but I can't compare it to much American stuff.

Mr. Bean was just plain stupid. Benny Hill was so stupid, it was clever. It's kind of like propellors...they move so quickly, they look like they're moving slowly, backwards.
