Get a load of these idiots.

First, they spend $1,000,000 on a house just meters from the fairway of a golfcourse, then they sue the course because golf balls are landing on their property. Big surprise.

Then, some idiot judge finds that this is the golf course's problem, not the homeowners', and gives the golf course (that has been there since 1923, long before this house was built) just two weeks to fix the problem, as well as awarding the idiot homeowners $14,000 for their trouble.

Now the homeowners are taking further legal action to stop the course from building a fence, the building of which is the direct consequence of the legal action the homeowners initiated in the first place.

Sometimes I really want to smack people with a "You're a moron" stick...

I mean COME ON! The street you bought your house on is called "Fairway Road" for Chrissake! What did you think living there would be like?

I have to agree, that is madness and people should not be able to due over things self made like that.

They probably got their prices down on the homes a few grand complaining about how close it was.

Why did the golf course accept them building a house in the first place ?? The golf course should have sued first..... That would be the American way....

I would love to hear that case. We are suing the homeowners because we believe there is a 78% or higher chance that they will sue us. We believe there is no reason to wait for them to get fed up with us hitting crabapple sized balls at their house and wish to first sue them for messing up our view.....of the trees?

Personally, I would have built the house on the green, so the hole and flag are in my living room. ~D

Weird. There is a similar case involving a cricket ground in UK law. Exactly the same story, house built after the cricket ground. It was heard by the late, great, Lord Denning MR.

It will come as no surprise to fans of Lord Denning that in cricketing terms the result was cricket club 589-3 dec, homeowners 56.

Can't say I have any sympathy for the house-owners. I grew up next to a golf course, and it's not a big deal. If they didn't take the possibility of golf balls hitting their house when they moved in, it's really their fault. Caveat emptor. A giant fence is what they deserve for being short-sighted and whiny. Personally, I'd be willing to clean up after the odd golf ball in exchange for a nice view.

hehehe we also have idiots like that, city people that want to live in the country, they have this romantic image that cows don't shit. Then they find out that cows actually do shit, and they try to sue their farming neightbour for the smell. Or they move into a house next to an giant centuries old three, and then demand it to be cut down because they hate all those leaves in the garden.

my friends lived near a golf course growing up, the house was near the green on a par three that was basically the green at the top of a hill, you could just make out the top of the flag for pin placement.

we used to run out there and place the balls in the cup and run back whilst the golfers were hiking up the hill, and lol at the yahoos who thought they got a hole in one ~D
