(Strange) Case of Missing Shields/Weapons

I spent several hours today creating new shields to replace some old ones. I have done this many times before and never had a problem; but for some reason, although the units show up fine in battle, neither shields nor the weapons (which I didn't touch) show.
All the correct (at least what I am 99% sure are correct) weapon and shield coordinates are there, correctly named, no errors.
The only time I have ever seen this happen was when an item coordinate was missing or incorrectly named/numbered, and these are in the exact same position and approximately the same size as the old shields! (so I only had to copy the original coordinates.)
If anyone know what I did wrong please let me know, as I spent a long time working and I really want these to work.

Sorry, I guess I spoke to fast.
The reason was ridiculous, but difficult to find. This is what happened.
I copied a unit and replaced the shields with new ones.
But in the startpos files, I forgot to write the folder of the new unit.
So, since the unit was the same as the old one, the movement coords were the same. So I was getting soldiers without weapons and shields!
I completely forgot to do this, I was REALLY stumped for a while!
