Pipedream or...is it possible ?

Hello to all those involved in creating mods & tools:

Is there anyone 'out there' who could be seriously tempted by the following 'pipedream':
What would it take to create a slick 'Historical Battle Editor'?
Imagine this:
1 - Create the historicaly correct battlefield (maybe using the ingame 'map editor')
2 - Simply by using point & click set up the different starting positions.
3 - Using maybe a pulldown menu set up the conditions.
4 - Save...and play!
Maybe this sounds extremely simple but so what! I'm not into proramming and modding but maybe there those among you who might fancy the Idea.
Let me know your thoughts!

Another question: MTW does have it's own collection of models (walls, houses etc.) that can be used to create your own battle map. Is there a way to create your own models ? I've got so many Idea's floating around in my head but everytime I get frustrated by the lack of specific models (Roman arches etc.). It can't be too difficult once you've got the right tools and know how to use them. Anyone ???????
