Bush Whacked By The Stones!
Yes its a cut and paste so dont bother reading it.
Quote:
BUSH WHACKED BY THE STONES!
THE ROLLING STONES accuse US President GEORGE W BUSH of being "full of sh*t" on their new album.
The track ’Sweet Neo Con’, one of the tracks on the forthcoming ’A Bigger Bang’, was already known to be fiercely anti-Bush.
However, frontman Mick Jagger's disdain for the American leader has now been confirmed, with Rolling Stones singer revealing some of the lyrics in an interview with Newsweek.
But the singer has revealed that guitarist Keith Richards, who lives in the US, is a bit worried about the direct nature of the words.
An extract from ’Sweet Neo Con’ features the following lines: "You call yourself a Christian, I call you u a hypocrite/You call yourself a patriot, well I think you're full of sh*t."
Jagger said of the track: “It is direct. Keith said: ‘It's not really metaphorical.’
”I think he’s a bit worried because he lives in the US. But I don’t.”
’A Bigger Bang’ is released on September 5 and is preceded by the single, ’Streets Of Love’ on August 22. The band begin their forthcoming world tour in Boston on August 21.
uncut.co.uk has heard the album and has a full track by track guide to the album.
!
I heard more but this was all I could find so far.

Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
Way for Mick the prick to generate more publicity for his crap new album. Sheez, I don't like the stones mind you but most bands of their era either hung it up 15 years ago or had the decency to die young and spare us their getting old, creatively exausted, and seeming like senior citizens who refuse to realize that if they keep this shit up their libel to break a friggin hip.

Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
You know, the first time I saw the thread title I thought it said, "Bush Whacked *in* The Stones!" ~D I thought he might have had another accident, like with that personal transporter, his mountain bike, or perhaps just another ball game choking scare. ~;) He's giving Gerald Ford a run for his money as it is.
-
Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
Why are they still making music. They are legends, its time to retire - buy a yacht, and live the sweet life. Not that I would buy their new stuff anyway, but the song only reduces the number of people who would buy it.
-
Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
Since they are old and rich, why are they not conservatives ???
-
Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
Imagine if the Stones had all died in a plane crash in 1975... they would be gods by now.
Instead they are just floggers of dead horses.

They are 'conservatives'. A few squawks don't make a parrot. They are happy capitalists.

Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
just about all of Hollywood + all famous rock and roll bands will always side with democratic candidates
i'm not surprised by this latest Bush bashing at all
-
Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
Im starting to like this Jagger fella' ~;)
but if I want to listen to bush-bashing i prefer NOFX and Anti-Flag

Actually, he doesn't have any "stones'. ~D
The Stones are a bunch of old geezers who are waiting to be put in a sarcofagus soon.

You kidding? You have to stop thinking only from inside the US borders ~:) .
The whole planet hates Bush. If people dont think about the publicity stuff then it will sell like crazy.
I tend to think that even in the states it will raise their sales. Bush is not actually the favorite there either atm.
Although its all too isolated to not be publicity oriented, I think that the artists should start doing more to oppose that maniac and his war loving mob of associates.

They should have stop and enjoy retirement years ago.

Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
I read that Newsweek articale. I was so proud of Mick and Keef!

It's always a shame when the classics get political.
Ok, let me try and say this without me exploding. Are you kidding? The best classic music was extremely political, including the Stone's stuff. Street Fighting Man, anyone? Bob Dylan? Neil Young? Hello? :furious3:
And not all rockers from that generation should just stop. Some are still making great albums and are putting on incredible shows, so stop generalizing.

Speaking for the whole planet and America are we? ~;)
The Bush bashing crowd over here usually listens to new craporock like Greenday and anti-flag.. while the conservatives tend to favor guitar gods and such.

Neil Young is lacking in talent in my opinion. The only song I liked that had anything to do with him was Sweet Home Alabama. ~D
The best music has nothing to do with politics in my opinion.

Lol, classic.
This would have been a much better thread if it had been Bush whacked in the stones.
Anyway after Paint it Black it all went downhill

Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
Wasn't their 2002-2003 tour the second top grossing tour of all time? $300 million? I haven't liked any of their recent music though.
-
Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
Sure, people will come from miles around to hear their classics.. that doesnt mean they will buy the new stuff.
-
Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
the lyrics ring true...still they are still crap and should have retired looooong ago..
i´ll go listen to some Bad Religion instead. ~D

Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
I would hate if Dylan stopped playing concerts and making (hopefully) new albums. As a matter of fact im going to a concert with Dylan in october. He's political as well, but more subtle.

*smacks with herring* if you listen to punk do the whole Clash, Pistols, Rammones, Dead Kennedys, Crass, Black Flag deal. Not no wannabe Anti-Flag "look at me I'm writting a song call 'not a crass song' I'm refering to one of the great punk bands of all time I must be good" (we do accept Reagan Youth and Agnostic Front too, kinda).
As to great music not being political, come on Guthrie, and most folk music, was all IWW politics, and can you honestly say that The Hurricane is not a kick ass song? What about The Clash, and The Who (Won't Get Fooled Again, anyone, anyone). You've got Tom Petty (The Last DJ), and Springsteen (Born in the USA), you've got Dylan again with Political World, and then there's Machine Gun by Jimi Hendrix.

Re: Bush Whacked By The Stones!
PJ, Neil Young was the man, and Ronnie van Zant loved his music, and they were friends, actually. They wanted to tour together... but then Ronnie died.
JimBob's right, most of the classics were political in one way or another. PJ, even Skynyrd got involved in politics, and supported the true ultimate evil for President: Carter. ~;)

Sadly, I think he no longer plays guitar in concert, just piano (or organ or something). Even so, my friends loved seeing him.

No no, see, it was cocaine our president (well rumoured to) took, since crack didn't exist back then.
