Removing the Timer in single player :o)

I've tried the method mentioned in other post i.e inserting the line in the preferences files during a campaign game but it did'nt work. Is there another method of disabling that damn timer? Why didnt they include an option to disable it?????????????????

If you have patch 1.2 you can disable it, it will be one of the options when you start a campaign. If you don't have patch 1.2 I would highly recommend downloading it, for it contains many fixes.
