I can skin now, so I want to learn how to model. I have 3ds max 7. I had a look at some tutorials, but they all say something like: 'this is for those who can do basic modelling. '
Can someone please give me a really basic, simple guide on how to do simple modelling such as swapping weapons from unit to unit, etc.
There already is one.... in the tutorials section. Thats about as simple as it gets. What you are actually asking is for someone to teach you how to use Max. If you can't use the tool, you won't get far.
I suggest you start with the manual, then work on Google and learn how to do basic modelling, UV mapping, vertex welding etc. Then you will be able to follow the tutorials.
Once you teach yourself to walk, I will help you run.
The best place to start is with the tutorials that come with max, then follow some simple tutorials like the ones you have found. Then practice on RTW units, finally start to create your own units and use the tutorials on these forums. Don't expect this to be easy though.
