Most beutiful city, in your opinion
I've decided to take a short break from my non-stop bashing of all things not Kaiser, and post a topic, not one of destruction, but of beauty. Not one of death but of life.
What is, in your opinion, the most beutiful city on Earth?
For me, it has to be Munich.
If you'd guys like, I can post some of the pics I took when I was there back in June.

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Perth in Western Australia... makes Sydney beaches look a dirty brown, makes Sydney skies look grey and the city is clean.

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
paris for a big citie the the prettiest small city would be siena in tuscany

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
In terms of just sheer beauty, I think I would go for Prague (of course being there for vacation on a sunny wekend in May helps to create that impression).
I also loved Barcelona - the Gaudi buildings add a certain uniqueness to the look of the city.
In Germany, Munich is a good choice - I was also surprised how beautiful Dresden actually is...

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Chicago without a doubt. The skyline is the best looking in the world, and the lake front is great for sitting around wasting time. Besides I'm here ~;)

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
A Clear Summer day in Downtown Seattle or Vancouver.
Although as far as beauty on a day to day basis, I think Athens and Istanbul are the two prettiest cities in the world.
-
Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
I would have to say Glasgow ~;)
But apart from that Prague was really nice, wasn't too keen on Barcelona I thought the Gaudi buildings were, well, crap to be honest. I'm going to Dubrovnik in a month, anyone know anything about it?

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
haven't been to that much cities yet but I can say Paris is beautifull.
But I also love the atmosphere in smaller more southren cities...

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Monaco. I love it ~D
Others, I would choose Budapest(really a great Medieval city), Wien(I love the gothic architecture), in Germany I only passed fast :embarassed:
I also liked Rome. Really interesting.
Or Amiens, in France. Small town but very cute.

Amiens? arrrrrh, sad, dark, dirty town. Lille is much better. Paris not bad either, in the area..... I did like Cordoba & Quebec a lot, too. Montréal......erm, no, thanks.

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
El_slapper,
Sometimes yes. But most of the time, not very. I especially liked the Cathedral. Very beautiful.
I haven't seen Lille(yet). As for Paris, good. My parents are especially fond of Paris and Venice. I don't even wanna know why.

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Adelaide - after living in Sydney, the clean, wide open Adelaide was wonderful. Nice cricket ground too ~:)
Bath - wonderful old city. And had more hot chicks than any other place I've been
York - You can't move there for tripping over some historical building. Last time I went it was blanketed in snow, lovely ~:)
-
Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
London! Some of it is admittedly crap, but there are some places that are very nice. I especially like the new building, the 'Gherkin'.

An incredibly odd, but somehow beautiful building.

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
The Vatican City.
Rome or Copenhagen would fall into 2nd place for me. Rome for the magnificent buildings and architecture, Copenhagen for the beautiful people (oh those beautiful Danes...) and their architecture.
Munich springs to mind too, for the Hofbrau House - my favorite pub in the world.
-
Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Brisbane is getting nicer with every year labor is in charge of the state.
but other then that stockholm springs to mind, or Hobart...
i hated adelaide so much it gave me a headache, adelaide is hole full of bogan D*&$s

lol, to be honest it kinds of gets my back up when tour guides and locals tell you that you have to love it, I'm quite capable of making my own mind up.

Aye, both of these are nice, I'm thinking of moving to Bath but I don't know if I can afford it :embarassed:

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
I loved Rome; could easily wander around all day exploring, there were so many things to see. Another excellent city is Venice. London I enjoyed because there was so much to do. Anything you could possibly want can be founds there, plus there was excellent clubbing.

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Bath gets my pick, it's a wonderful place. I love Edinburgh as well.
The civic centre of Cardiff is also very pretty, especially at night.

We have a nice castle, too, which is right in the centre of town.

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Well in terms of location, I would have to say Geneva. I mean everytime I look out of my bedroom window, I see this:

View from a friend of mine's balcony:

And out of the lounge, in good weather you can see Europe's highest mountain, the Mont Blanc.

And it also has a very nice Old Town

But architecturally speaking, I would choose Vienna for its beautiful Baroque and 19th century architecture.

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Well, it's definately not Cairo.
I would go with Samarkand

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
What a silly question. There's no more beautiful city then florence. That city has more art then some countries all together! ~
I also love Athens which is where I used to live. Also Ediborough has struck my eye for it's fantastic castle etc..
-
Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
From what I've seen, Vienna. But I really want to take a big trip around Italy someday so i can see Rome and Florence.
I really don't like Paris though, and I don't care much for London either, at least not for the look of it.
-
Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Athens??? really? If you like traffic jams and unfinished concrete boxes maybe. Being an architect in Athens must be the easiest job in the world, I know, we'll build another concrete box and not put a roof on, brilliant.
Prague and Bath have already been mentioned. Oxford is pretty good, although I suppose the pretty old bit:boring new bit ratio is better in (spit)Cambridge(spit).
Bergen in Norway is nice.
-
Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
Old parts of St.Petersbourgh(spelling?) are very beutifull.

Re: Most beutiful city, in your opinion
