Got something on this guy in an email today -since I am at work - and bored today right now - thought I would share it.

Con-Tents Section:

Pup-Tents Section:
The Pup-Tents Section has five large tents. The facility is capable of housing up to 100 male juvenile inmates who have been convicted and sentenced as adults. The compound also has a modular building with two high school classrooms, offices, and showers.
Workbox Section:
This office maintains files, work records, and rosters for about 1,700 inmates that are sentenced to county jail. Workbox personnel are responsible for inmate job assignments and calculation of release dates.
Tent Support Unit:
This Unit consists of Field Training Officers (FTOs) and the Mail Officer. The FTOs maintain training and records for all employees of the Division, service the Intoxilyzer, perform weapon maintenance, conduct DNA testing, transport property and evidence, instruct at the academy, and conduct on-going training for the Division. The Mail Officer handles incoming and out-going United States mail for In-Tents inmates.

This is exactly the way i would like to see jails to develop.Not an holiday inside bars but forced labour.If just someone would introduce something like this in my country too.

It's a true story that's for sure. In a recent BBC program (How To Start Your Own Country) the prison was visited by King Danny I (aka Danny Wallace).

I saw a documentary on this some years ago. A lot of the inmates actually seem to like him, though of course a lot didn't. For most inmates this looks like a good idea IMO, and would help to reduce costs, and as long as the rehabilitation isn't ignored (and it doesn't look to be), then it probably a good thing.

I just noticed this was about the prison in Maricopa county, AZ.... I've posted things about this before and am a fan. I think he's definitely got the right idea for prisons with tough conditions, hard labor, and educational/rehab opportunities, having an accredited HS on the prison for the inmates. He also does this while keeping costs very low- feeding the inmates on 20 cents a day!

That's great but I seriously hope he doesn't get sued if they suffer from malnutrition. I don't think they will but what can you get for that sort of price?
