Emissary Confirming Peace - Prelude to an Attack?
Is it I or is it the way the AI works or a fluke. I’ll have a border Ally or Neutral out of the blue send me a Emissary confirming peace and that it is beneficial for us to work together.
Year ends, and then I’m attacked by that same border faction.
Of course I’ve become use to this and rally the borders in anticipation of that attack always happens. But the rally isn’t on the border because that sometimes provokes an attack anyway. I always position one territory away, for a counter attack. If it is a sea going faction, I don’t wait for the attack and clear them from the seas first (3-4 ships per sea lane). This usually stops any land attacks – sometimes.
Anyone else experiences the same fluke.

I've never had the AI send me an emissary confirming peace, let alone then lauch a surprise attack.
The nearest I've had to that is a spy occasionally telling me that a faction is about to attack me.

Welcome X ~ .
I've had this happen once before- I was HRE, AI was Spain :dizzy2: . I think
the AI wanted to :smash: on the Almos with a clear backside. I thought it
might be a good time to break an alliance  .
