Hey perhaps more are seeing the light
I've just noticed that there's only 3 more people viewing the RTW threads than there is in the main hall. Does this mean that MTW is making a come back as the TW supreme ??????? I'd like to think so but I doubt it , Then perhaps the CA might sit up and listen. Rome sold like hot cakes on release and I think thats all that matters to the CA and sega. Does any one know the actual figures RTW sold on its release and how it compares to that of MTW ,And how about total sales to date, Any info on this subject cos I'd realy like to know
Re: Hey perhaps more are seeing the light
Rome??
There's a Rome TW now?
wow ~
Re: Hey perhaps more are seeing the light
Actually.... I have been playing Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania Circle of the Moon and Suikoden III, not any of the TW series.
Am I going to banished now? :embarassed:

I think you can be forgiven, Azi...
My MTW habit has become an obsession. I feel like such a nerd.

Bad Azi! Go sit in the dungeon and think about what you've done! When you're ready to behave, maybe we'll let you back out after a couple weeks. ~;)

Well if you are a nerd, then I think you're in a whole lot of company here at the Org. ~

I think that interest in Rome fell off pretty sharply after it had been out for 6 months or so (as players started to realize more and more the flaws in the game). On the other hand, Medieval/Viking Invasion, while not selling as many copies as Rome, has consistently maintained a pretty strong following. I believe this is largely due to all the excellent mods for MTW, and the simple fact that its gameplay is much more solid than Rome's--mod or no mod.

I don't know the actual figures, but I know Rome sold well enough to be the 10th-best selling PC game of 2004. (As a result, it gave Activision the top 3 PC games of last year.)
Re: Hey perhaps more are seeing the light
Well, I have noticed lately that the Main Hall seems to get about the same amount of traffic as the Coloseum.
I think there are a lot of new MTW'ers about, many of whom seem to have gotten into MTW having bought RTW, liked it, heard MTW & STW were better and went and bought them as well.
Then there's the old timers like me who bought MTW on the day of release and I'm STILL playing it, still loving it and still finding out new things about the game all the time.
Re: Hey perhaps more are seeing the light
I would like to hope so. Thats the power of Bargain Bins.
Re: Hey perhaps more are seeing the light
My Housemate bought RTW when it first came out. Played it for a bit, said it had some cool new additions to the game but the gameplay just wasn't there. The RTW CD and case are now sat in our frontroom gathering dust.
~:) MTW > RTW ~:)

I think you may have hit the nail on the head there. Goodness knows it seems like we see at least a couple people every week here in the Main Hall saying they ditched Rome for Medieval, so I would say your theory may have some merit.

In this case, I don't think it makes much difference. ~D

Satirical, even? (the subject of the gag was a third party, if that makes a difference)
<searches feverishly for dictionary....>

As his housemate, I'd like to elaborate: I played it as far as the first battle tutorial. Saw all the stupid green arrows under the units, the insane jet-fighter-speed at which cavalry travelled and had the game crash on me when I tried one of the menus in the town. That was enough. At £34.90, it was the most expensive half hour of computer game play I have ever had. I might give the CD to one of the taxi drivers in our neighbourhood to hang from his rear view mirror.

Yikes. That must be around, what--$70.00 U.S.? If that's the case, then you really did get hosed! ~
I was more fortunate. Both my roommates have Rome, so I would just borrow their copy when I wanted to play. So when I realized Rome was just the "dumb blonde" of the TW games, at least I was spared having to empty my wallet to find out. ~
