Katrina, worse then I thought and heard before.
Just read Aftonbladet and I must say im chocked by how horrible things are in New Orleans.
Around 200 cops have resigned and thrown their badges on the table and 2 police 'leaders' have taken their own lifes.
One police they interviewed talked about how the police have to march out and engage the gangs in military style with heavy weapons. And this they must do in wet shoes, in contaminated water and nowhere to take care of their 'natural needs'.
A groups of engineers, the once that actuually are building the city up again was shot at by a gang with hevy weapons and needed police to take care of them.

It has been. There are various other threads that deal with one element or another of this disaster. It couldn't hurt to read them all and see where your comments would best fit in. Which is not to say your views are unwelcome, my friend, not at all.

And that is why the national guard was called in.
Re: Katrina, worse then I thought and heard before.
They weren't "heavy weapons", just run of the mill guns as far as I know. The individuals were taken out by some sort of police escort.

Answer: not much, therefore I am rarely disappointed and -- infrequently -- sometimes pleasantly surprised. This was not such an instance.
The media has already run all the stories it can on the horror show (at least until we can get into the recovery portion in depth) so it has to fill the time somehow. Now the emphasis is on finding a person or persons dumb enough to say "I didn't do what I could have" so they can get to their favorite activity -- proctoscoping a public official who is in broad disfavor.
When the investigations close, we will find that Katrina's devestation is not any one person's responsibility, but that -- like most air crash investigations show -- a chain of events and mis-cues worsened a situation that could have been handled better (though not averted).

They still try to claim Mississippi aid is going well, just don't ask the Mississippians what they think about it.

Now there's a video I'd pay to watch! We could start at the top, with Bush, and work our way down the bureaucratic ladder. It could be a series on video, sort of like "Girls Gone Wild" has been marketed. We could call it "Politicians Been Sigmoidoscoped!" I sense massive profits.

no matter if all he said was correct, atleast it feels good with a media channel that has the balls to say something...
