Assyria Total War- My first FULL Modification

I have been a member of this community for some time now, and haven't posted too much ~D but I just finished reading practicly all the guides :book:

I have been studying the Ancient Assyrians for some time now and am basing my Mod on them.

I have begun work on the Campaign map its going... ~:cool:
also I have downloaded Photoshop 7.0 and the Nvidia DDS Plugins so i'll be using them to edit the Unit textures, I don't have 3d max :embarassed: but I'll be using the original skeletens found in the data/models_unit files...
editing the text files etc... is easy but perhaps any of you excelent Modders would like to throw in a hint or two...

of course I'm modifying and creating Units for each faction: i.e such as Assyrian Bowmen, Babylonian horse archers, Assyrian Heavy Infantry etc...

sadly I'm looking at quite a "few" months worth of brutal modding :book: :book: :book: ...but oh.well :dizzy2:

Sounds pretty badass. How will the map look?

Im using the same size that the Imperial Campaign is using 255x???-don't remeber... except based in ancient Mesopotania... I'm still working very hard on the Map :book: :book: :book: then I'll move onto the Units( of which I have a few sketches... ~;) ) and then on to the text files and from there finally to the event pics etc.... But yaaaa I'm trying to make an extremely detailed Campaign Map :dizzy2:

though I can only use our gaming computer at night from about 4 p.m - 5 p. m :embarassed: since I'm at school the rest of the time... :book:

~;) Actually the Hittites ceased to be an Empire at around 1200 B.C when their Capital city Hattusas and Empire was wiped out by the Sea Peoples and other Barbarians. Also My Mod is based in 924 B.C a few years after the Kingdom of Soloman broke up...and ends in 450 B.C

-any other info or requests about factions etc.. can be asked ~:grouphug: and maybe I'll add a new one ~;)

The Frygians crushed the Hitties if you want to be picky, the same later invaded Assyria but were crushed utterly, their hole army of 20 000 warrior killed or captured. If I remember correctly it was Tiglatpileser I.

I could be wrong however.

How about the Elamites? Surely you have to have their presence in the game?

Nice mod... but more factions should be represented.
Do not forget Urartu, a powerful enemy of Assiria...
Neither the Cimmerians, to the farr north...
Or the phrigians...
Or the arabians

This factions list should be better i think:

Urartu (around lake Van, enemyes of Assiria)
Gimmirai (Cimmerians, northern barbarians, horse archers, etc)
Israel
Juda
Phrigia
Phoenicia
Moab
Edom
Ammon
Arabia (Saba, Timna, Dumatha, etc)
Arramean Kingdom (the ones who ruled at Damascus, the enemyes of Israel, you know the story of Ben Hadad, etc)
Medes
Egyiptians (use the vannila RTW units, they should work perfectly in this timeframe ~:))
Kushites/Nubians
Ethiopians

No good ideas for Minoans, around 900 BC they where a already subject to the invading Achaeans... Leave out Greece, better focuse on Middle East, that is my advice.

Add wonders/unique buildings (not necesarily represented on the Campaign Map) if possible , Pyramids, Temple of Jerusalem, Abu Sinbel, Mount Sinai, Ziggurat of Ur, Harbour of Tire, etc.

The mod has great potential.

If you need any help on Israel or Judah I can help you.

Considering his profile states he hasn't been online at the org for a year or so, and the age of the thread, I don't think this is a progressive mod at the moment.

If Your Mod is concentrated on the top of Assyrian history (about 1600 BC) the next strongest forses of this period/area should not be missed:
- Chaldean Babylonian Kingdom (South Iraq)
- Urartu (Armenia-East Turky)
- Midians (in west Iran)
- Mittani Kingdom (in Syria)
- Hittite Empire in its zenyth.
As the North Iraq is the core of the rising Assyrian empire (if the start date is near 1800 BC) this neibourghts is very important.
